Kutar Tabipero

March 6, 2006 8:27 AM | Tim W.

The Kutar's Tabipero is a collection of four mini-games from Giga-Rensya which can be played in any order. Starting from the top of the world map in a counterclockwise direction, we have a game set in Egypt. The objective here is to dig for treasure by left clicking on any of the nine spots while avoiding the guards. To move the cat around just right click on any of the spots.

Next we have a racing game, where the vehicle you're riding is in perpetual motion and must not hit any object. Left or right click to move your vehicle to either direction.

The third mini-game is pretty fun, as some quick thinking is required to balance the leaning tower. Cats will fall from the sky and hang on poles protruding from each side of the building. The objective is to get an equal number of your colleagues on both ends, which is achieved by hitting the balcony with either mouse button to issue the felines a signal.

Lastly we have a game that plays like a simpler version of Beatmania. Mountains scroll from left to right and it's up to you to click on the appropriate mouse button depending on a mountain's height when it appears in your sight. Right click for tall mountains and left click for shorter ones.

Kutar Sword Master

March 6, 2006 8:25 AM | Tim W.

In Kutar Sword Master, your task is to hit enemies with a sword by pressing the left and right mouse button. The game ends immediately if you swing wildly and miss. A boss battle ensues after you have taken care of a few enemies.

There's plenty of commotion going on in the background, and the scene changes after every boss fight. Unfortunately the gameplay is too simplistic to hold anyone's attention for long.

Kutar Manu

In Kutar Manu, you have been assigned the task of a worker in a burger manufacturing plant. Your supervisor will watch over your shoulder as he inspects the quality of the burgers that are being sent out for delivery. He is easily identifiable by his distinctive yellow hair and light blue cap.

The objective is to make sure that your other colleagues don't screw up by forgetting to place a beef patty on the bun before passing it to you. To reject burgers without a beef patty, press the right mouse button. To place the other half of a bun on top of the beef patty, press the left mouse button. You earn points for each burger that passes quality control inspection.

Kutar T-shirt

March 6, 2006 8:21 AM | Tim W.

Kutar's Powder and Kutar T-shirt are two mini-games from Giga-Rensya with the same controls but slightly different gameplay. Your character can be moved around by using the left and right mouse buttons.

In Kutar's Powder, the objective is to collect the powder that your colleague spills from the platform above you with the help of a bottomless bag. In Kutar T-shirt, your friend will fling pieces of clothing and it's up to you to sort them out by catching only the t-shirts.

Of the two, Kutar T-shirt is more forgiving as misses are allowed and the player does not have to hold down the mouse button to move around.

In Kutar Concert, your task is to push the crowd back behind the line or be crushed under the feet of adoring J-pop fans. Click on the first cat in queue to get them back in order.

Like all of Giga-Rensya games, it will only entertain for a few minutes but luckily there are plenty more on the site.

Kutar Shampoo

March 6, 2006 8:15 AM | Tim W.

Playing the part of a hairdresser in Kutar Shampoo, your task is to wash the foam and shampoo off your customer's head before the bubbles spill out of the screen. There's a period of inactivity as the customer is seated, and once the shower head is turned on the fun begins.

Simply move the cursor around to wash the foam off, but watch out for foams which turn red. The game will end if a red foam touches the edge of the screen. Moving the mouse in a circular motion is recommended as foams will disappear quicker this way. In later stages foam which are of a darker tone can only be washed away after all the white foam have been washed off.

Spooks

March 5, 2006 10:58 AM | Tim W.

Spooks is an excellent AGS adventure by Erin Robinson, where most of the sprites and backgrounds were drawn using MSPaint and nine shades of gray. The story begins as Mortia finds herself in possession of a goldfish on a day out at the carnival. The prize she won from a game of darts is the catalyst of her adventure to seek the meaning of life.

The writing stands out and most of the music employed doesn't disappoint, although puzzles can be slightly perplexing at times. A small drawback to an otherwise amazing achievement, considering that it's a first effort and a sign of things to come.

As 1213's journey comes to an exciting conclusion, Yahtzee holds nothing back to deliver the promised end barely days after releasing the second episode.

To recap, 1213 Episode 3 is the third in a series of continuing stories about a mysterious amnesiac who seeks freedom from his imprisonment. The game does have a few shortcomings but overall it's an adventure not to be missed.

New Metal Slug

March 5, 2006 10:18 AM | Tim W.

New Metal Slug is basically a one level remake of SNK's famous arcade platformer with updated graphics. The knife has been replaced with a pan which can be used to knock out enemies, although we probably will never find a use for the five empty slots at the bottom of the screen.

Keys can be remapped by clicking on the third option in the main menu. Three difficulty levels are presented to the player after the playing instructions are shown. The animation is smooth but controls are slightly unresponsive at times.

Currently hosted by both Donpixel and Zeronews.
