But it all seriousness, it's shaping up to be quite a tool, not to mention looking pretty gorgeous. Apparently testing will start next week!

Trailer: Cadet 227 (Shen Games)

March 19, 2010 12:27 AM | Michael Rose

Alex Shen's latest project is 'an action/adventure game for the visually impaired / blind' called Cadet 227. He used Kickstarter to fund the idea, and now it's underway. The idea is to create a gaming experience which relies solely on sound with no visuals at all.

Yes, the idea has been done before, but Alex is going to great lengths to make Cadet 227 especially powerful stuff for blind gamers, researching ideas and gathering information from various sources - you can follow his work via a developer diary.

Expected to be released in the Summer, the game will be available as donationware.

Interviews: Limbo (Playdead), Cave Story (Nicalis)

March 18, 2010 10:00 PM | Tim W.

Here's an interview with Mads Wibroe, one of the producers for the award-winning puzzle platformer Limbo. This video doesn't exactly reveal any new information about the game, but the gameplay footage does show a lot of content not present in any of the trailers already posted (new puzzles, weather effects at the end, other inhabitants of the island, etc.)

If you missed the interview with Daisuke Amaya (or Pixel, creator of Cave Story) posted all over the internet in the last couple of days, you can find the embedded video after the cut. Cave Story WiiWare will be released in the North America region this March 22nd.

PlayDead Takes all the Attention with Limbo (Nordic Games, Gamers & Developers)

Browser Game Pick: Redivider (Nathan McCoy)

March 18, 2010 8:00 PM | Tim W.

Redivider is a Java-based arcade game with a very simple ruleset, created by Nathan as part of his weekly game release initiative. In each level you are given ten seconds to complete an objective, which could either be eliminating circles, dividing them, or a combination of the two.

By using a simple drag motion with the mouse you can draw a line from one end of the window to another, hence cutting anything that is in its path. Watch out for grey circles though, as touching those would cause you to instantly fail at the attempt to clear that level. There are thirty stages to play through in this game.

Oxeye Games' Project B, Free Postcards

March 18, 2010 5:00 PM | Tim W.

The Oxeye Games team needs your help with naming their upcoming platformer which is currently in production and scheduled for a release sometime next year. For this purpose they've printed out six different Project B postcard prints, and will send those out at random to anyone who suggests a name for their multi-platform game. If your suggested game name gets picked, a special gift will be mailed to you as well (at no extra charge).

What is Project B then? Little is known about it outside of the brief info page and leaked footage posted a couple of weeks ago. Maybe more will be revealed on the postcards?

Derek Yu's Desktop Dungeons Tileset

March 18, 2010 3:00 PM | Tim W.

Not entirely sure if this addictive roguelike had actually got the attention that it truly deserved, but Derek's new tileset creation is sure to please fans who are already loving (and still playing) Rodain Joubert's Desktop Dungeons game. To start using the tileset, all you have to do is unzip it into your 'tilesets' folder, run the game executable, click on the tileset button, and type in the name 'derek' to change your default tileset to the new and improved version.

For anyone still struggling to figure out what to do for each deity and what they bestow as rewards, head on over to the awesome Desktop Dungeons wiki page to have all your questions answered.
