Cobalt's Alpha is Available for Purchase and Play

Mojang published and Oxeye Game Studio developed 2D action platformer Cobalt is now available for 9.95 Euro ($13) and playable in alpha form. Following the footsteps of Mojang's Minecraft, Cobalt's pre-order is cheaper than the future final release. The pre-order also grants access to the current and all future builds of Cobalt up until and including the full release of the game.
Oxeye is hard at work to build a single player and co-op campaign. The developers are also aiming for an in-game editor that allows the player to create everything from single maps to whole campaigns from scratch. All of this is set to the awesome sounds of Mattias "Anosou" Häggström-Gerdt.
While Cobalt will have a final release on all PC platforms, the current alpha is only playable on Windows. When the game progresses to beta, the team anticipates being on Mac OS X and Linux. That said, if you want to lock in the cheapest price, the alpha price is 5 Euro less than the beta. The first alpha release includes two hot-seat versus game modes (capture the plug and death match) and a co-op game mode (survival).
