Ah, how can someone lose interest in independent games? They're so many great ones.

Anyway, maybe it's a good thing and the new management will be more efficient; we submitted Alphasix and Missing there back last August, and they still haven't been reviewed, I heard they have a huge list of games to review and go through it very slowly.

At its prime, GameHippo was the site to check for new freeware games. It's been sad to see it go into a decline over the past year or so, but hopefully the new owner will be able to bring some fresh blood to the site. All in all, good news I think.

Yeah GameHippo was the site that made me discover indie games. Glad to see it getting new ownership.

I wish someone would revive it... The updates were so rare in the past months. And the Underdogs could use a kiss of life too.

This news bring me back to the times when, invited by the (now former) admin, I reviewed a couple dozen games... I should consider a comeback when the new management is set.

Meh, I should review some more games for that site, too, but college seems to take up most of my time.

the main change so far seems to be "stick google ads into all available space".not exactly convinced so far...

Site has been wiped now. Few other sites still around though; Caiman, Acid-Play, Noodan.

Yeah, I noticed the other day that the site no longer exists. It's a shame. Gamehippo is how I first got into the indie gaming scene.

It's a dirty rotten shame that Gamehippo is dead. It was one of the best freeware game sites. It will be missed. My opinion: Boson will regret selling it later when he becomes re-interested in indie gaming.

R.I.P Gamehippo. Why did the new owner left it to died?

I was a big fan of gamehippo, but last months the site was not updated frequently. I hope the site will be running again someday.

I think I'm gonna cry. Just found this site was gone. Use to love checking out all the games there & critiquing them. Just got to busy playing Runescape to do it anymore.

=( =( =(
gamehippo got me into indie gaming too...
Over the years I frequented gamehippo and acid-play and saw the decline of the former and the apparent rising of the latter...

Nooooo. A large portion of my nerdy childhood was shaped by what I found on this site. Now where will I find games like little fighters 2, liero, cave story, gladiator and those random homemade japanese games? :(
RIP my old friend, your greatness will be remembered.

Wow, Gamehippo. . .dead? Aw, man! That site introduce me to so many good games. Charlie the duck, some german firts person shooter with a an uber cool chantish intro song. Super Angilo. This 3D rpg that was really cute. Dang, dang dang HECK dang!

Really disappointed to hear about this. I got into Yahtzee's x Days series (and by extension a whole bunch of other games) through this site. Very sad.

Man, I can't believe it. I loved this site. I liked how the old school games were revamped and new generations of today seemed to be getting into the games of yesterday. My condolences to GameHippo.com. Boson, you suck D**k!

Gutted :( Just tried to log on and it was completely dead. Triscurt, if you're looking for indie games, there's a few sites I use. Try fun-motion.com for physics based indie goodness, and there's the Retro Remakes site (Which is self explanatory). Other than that, Google :(

I totally can't handle this. I wanted to log in to site today and it's gone. I had so much fun with the site, games, and forum. I NEVER thought game hippo would go bye-bye.

Gutted - gamehippo is one of the 10 lucky sites that have been sitting in my bookmarks toolbar for years, such a shame to get rid of it - so many memories :(

Gamers,we've lost another little-little piece of Eden...but why do they get fun stealing all we love?!!

Hi,
It's sad to see that Gamehippo.com is gone. I was the original owner of gamehippo.com (which was previously freehealing.org). Yes, I sold gamehippo about a year ago. And I just noticed that the new owner forgot to renew the domain registration.
As you know, I am spending my time with my family instead of gaming.

Ahh, this site took half my child-hood from me, and how I wish it couldve taken more. R.I.P old friend. Tis' indeed a sad to see that massive games library go, along with those thousands of memories.

I still mourn the loss of gamehippo. It was a part of my childhood; downloading probably every hotseat game there was. That site was also the reason I got into game programming (check my site; vd-productions.com ;P), as when I played all multiplayer games gamehippo had to offer I had to start making them by myself. I still remembering finding GameMaker in the Dev Tools section of gamehippo, oh the joy and sadness of reminiscence.
