Yes, you can play as cactus himself in the game!

Too retro? Does something like that exist? It's not consequent in being retro, and the portraits in the beginning are just crappy, but that doesn't mean it's too much retro =PBtw, why's the game keep going while the player's crashed in the ground, near the end of that clip?

The game's not intended to be retro in the sense that it's following the way of any of the old systems. This is more a lowres game with retro elements.I'm sad to hear you thought the portraits were crappy. I'm no big pixelling talent, but quite satisfied with almost everything in the game so far. I've definitely tried my best, at least.

Don't worry cactus, the portraits are awesome, I don't see why Kon-tiki thinks they are crappy. You have far more pixeling tallent than I do anyway!

I think the portraits are awesome also Cactus. They have a lot of style and character.

Another vote for awesome portraits here and awesome style overall. As I said over at Bills - its like nothing I've ever seen and thats a really, really good thing. Can't wait.

What interests me most, is how the game plays. When can we expect a demo (or the full version)?

The graphical style seems pretty ace, overall. Including the portraits.

The idea is cool, the graphics, the buildings in particular remind me so much of Rampage when it was ported to the Atari, I love it. I love the concept, but I can't sit down to play a game for long periods in this retro style. It's neat and I like how you've done the bosses, but my eyes just bug and cross too much.

Attaching the options to the enemies in order to fire homing shots is very 19XX and the way the bullets "fall" across the screen reminds me of Progear. I'd be very interested in seeing how far cactus takes this in the finished product.

I can't stop watching that video.
