Card Sagas Wars is versus fighting game made with MUGEN, featuring popular video game characters such as Link, Samus, Cloud, Chun-Li and others.

A beta version with four playable fighters was originally scheduled for a release before Jan 2008. More screenshots in the extended. [source: Indie Games Group]

Oh, nice. The trailer needs more Majinrengokusatsu, though.

I love that it uses music from Wanderers from Ys III, that's one of my favorite soundtracks from the SNES.

THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!! (Hey, an embedded video!)

This actually looks pretty good! Normally I frown upon MUGEN games, but this looks snazzy.

Seems like they redrew every single char so they have the same art style instead of ripping them from the games. Very nice. The backgrounds are simply awesome.

The new independant gaming site is quite nice btw!

@RotateMe: None of those backgrounds are original material. I see SFA and SF3 backgrounds, and one from Guilty Gear for starters.

It's pretty impressive, even for a MUGEN game due to the fact that the sprites were redrawn, really.
The only thing that is questionable is the amount of blue cards (or characters), doesn't 988 sound a bit... overambitious?

As nice as it looks from the redrawn sprites. It looks like they still have a lot of character balancing to do. Just look at the damage and combo ability of Chun-Li and Ivy (taking out more than 2/3 of their life w/o supers) compared to Link and Leon. This aspect is the one where a lot of MUGEN games fail upon.

I've e-mailed the one of the guys about the game, they said the game's beta will be released soon, but we don't know how soon that is.

nice... i can't wait to get the beta. i just don't know the exact website to get it... does anyone know where it is?
