Tekkyuuman is a new release by prolific Japanese developer Ikiki, famous for a number of controversial games featuring ninjas, bloodbath and outrageous violence. Usually with all three elements at the same time.

In this game, you must make your way towards the green spiky object and smash it with the flail. Use the control key to swing your weapon and tap the left shift key to jump. A wall jump can also be executed by pressing the same shift key when scaling up walls.

Red switches can be activated either by touch or hitting them with your flail. An extra life is awarded after every boss fight.

...d...damn. This is nearly too good to be true. After ikiki shut down his website some time ago, I was sure we wouldn't be seeing another game from him for quite a while. And here he is again, alive and kicking as much as usual. Great find, Tim.

I can confirm that it's definitely a new game as well, seeing as it says 完成日 (Completion Date): 07/12/10 and 修正日 (Revision Date): 07/12/16 in the readme. Plus, I've got all of them safely tucked away here and this one was missing. Until now, that is. :)

This is excellent Tim, thanks :)

Unfortunately the video seems to be missing the music! :(

I haven't heard any music in game either. Just Homer Simpson's "D'oh" and weapons swings.

BTW, video walkthrough misses one point. First two levels can be completed without killing all bad guys. Just don't break any walls (or boxes!) - use them walljump all the way up in lev1 (one swordsman to kill) and do the same in lev2(one flamer to kill).

I'm at that crazy level 9 boss - haven't a clue what to do.

That button in level 7 - you need to go the the right of the ledge it's on and shoot to the left, then run off to the right and jump back on. Rebounds won't work, so I think that's the only way to do it.

this music isn't horribly annoying! i'm shocked.

i think the lesson we've all learnt is "never listen to raigan" :)

stupid flaming spike-balls..

This is a painfully great game >_

This game is fun.

I'm giving it 5 naked little guy with a helmet (on a max of 5)

I've gotten to level ten, but I'm gonna give it a rest for the night. It's really fun and the level design is amazingly tricky :)

@Terry: Just attack him and jump as soon as he teleports. Make sure you figure out when he's about to do the purple attack. Get behind him fast and he's defenseless against your rear attacks.

How do you defeat the guys with the hammers(first one appears Lv.7)?
Aside the fact i'm stuck, it's been great fun to play.

Devlin: You need to hit him with fire like the branches.

I wish there was some way to quicksave or something in this game :) It's really good, but it's starting to get annoying to have to redo every level in the game to replay the later ones.

I'm also kind of stuck for the moment since the third boss is one damn tough cookie. Guess I'll take a break and try again tomorrow. Getting there was halfway easy though, I have to say. Most of the levels only feature one critical obstacle which you have to overcome, like that unreachable switch bit in Level 7. Which reminded me of a similar situation in one of ikiki's other games, by the way, and thus wasn't much of a problem. This incredibly quick shooting cowboy/sniper in Level 8 was more of a nuisance.

Oh yeah, for a failsafe way (We all hate to burn ourselves while trying to hit something with the flaming flail, right?) to defeat the hammer soldier, here's what I do:
I always stand on the left edge of the right platform, throw the flail right, jump over the chasm, stop at exactly the third tile to the left of the chasm and wait for the fiery bringer of doom (i.e. the flail on fire) to pass over the protagonist's head and hit whatever's foolish enough to stand in the way. Works flawlessly for both branches and soldier. Looks flashy too.

@Random: The hammer guys are really easy. Just let him punch your spikeball and jump over it and it stretches far enough to reach the fire and swings back at the hammer guy without any tricky maneuvering. Works like a charm every time for me.

Sounds like a risky tactic, Cactus :O

Have you worked out level 10 yet? I can't get over the gap :(

Yeah, just stand in front of the hammer guy on the side towards the bit and try to jump over him. He'll jump up and hit you in the air ;)

Finally beat it. Great game. Somewhat frustrating but doable. Too bad it ends at level 12.

Level 11 :O

I can get all the way to the end spiked melon thing, but it's wrapped in some sort of metal thingy...

This game is insane - I think it could be my favourite Ikiki title :D

Oh, and thanks for the help again, Cactus :)

I won't play anymore until there is a save game option.

Otherwise, very good game.

I can't get past the first pit in Level 11 :(

This was a pain to figure out. Wait until the masked guy (to your right) is as close to the edge as possible. Then attack the goggle guy (to your left) and jump over the spike ball he hits back. The guy on the right catches it, drags you to him and hits you up the shaft. You can control yourself as you're flying up so hold down left (or right, if that wall is closer) to grab onto the wall. The idea is to be hit up the shaft as close to the wall as possible so you can grab it.

Finally finished it :D The level 12 boss took me a while. I discovered that you can use the level nice boss to stock up on extra lives though - that helped me quite a bit.

Anybody interested in a full video?

I'd love to see a video :)

Well, here you go! (Presuming my comment is blocked out or something, heh)

Bah, YouTube made a balls of the sound. I'll redo it tomorrow using my usual method.

Anyone else notice that there's a virus in both of these packages? (the mirror and official downloads)

It's from Vector - the biggest download site in Japan. They have a reputation for scanning files before uploading. Tekkyuuman is developed using MMF, and has Japanese characters which could probably be the reason why it registered as a virus on your machine.

I still personally scan and test all games before posting it, and have my browser security settings set to high so if anything triggers the alarms then the web site will never be mentioned here.

Derek had posted Ikiki's games numerous times on TIGSource, and we had never heard anything about a virus before.

Oh okay cool, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything but I just wanted to give the heads up that my BitDefender v10 found 'backdoor.justfun.A' in the main .exe of the game. I'll turn it off and install it anyway since I seem to be the only one having this problem so no worries. Thanks for the quick reply though and Happy New Year :)

Well, let us know if your software detects a virus no matter how unlikely that is. Have you tried scanning Ikiki's older games?

Just wanted to see what everyone's time is for completing the game. My record is 6:42. I can't find any other scores out there besides the 9 minute game for the youtube clip so I don't have much to compare to.
