Indie Game Pick: Audiosurf (Invisible Handlebar)
Audiosurf is a music game that works with any song you choose. Music that gives you an adrenaline rush are converted into wild roller coaster rides full of color and motion. Tunes that calm you down appear as cool colors against a relaxing sky.
In Audiosurf, you race down a futuristic and colorful highway. The highway, the traffic patterns, and the scenery are all synchronized to the music you have chosen from your own collection. You earn points for clustering together cars of the same color on the highway, and can compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs. Audiosurf builds a highway for any music CD, MP3, iTunes M4A, WMA, or OGG song you choose, so the experience that you have is totally up to you.
Audiosurf is one of only two games to get finalist status in three IGF categories (Seumas McNally Game Of The Year, Excellence In Audio and Technical Excellence). The winners of each category will be announced at the IGF awards ceremony at GDC, February 20. [Gamasutra interview]

I  Audiosurf.
OK, so at it's heart it's a match 3 come racer - but the reactivity and track generation works a treat.
Although having said that, playing it with Burning Spear made for a *very* interesting experience. Perhaps dub reggae wasn't what the authors had in mind :D

Hey man, I'm in my spending mood today. Why does nobody let me purchase or at least pre-order the game? I played the demo and am waiting for the beta weekend but I wanna friggin' BUY IT. :-D

this game is amazing.
however...why on earth did it stop me from playing my own music after two songs?
that really sucked.
is there away around this?

Indeed, they'd have had my money in a shot if the purchase link worked!

You can reinstall it...
I'd rather buy it though. I'm giving Dylan & Co. a week to strip me of my money - otherwise I'll donate it to a charity instead. :-P

Won't let me download from the site. The download window keeps coming up, but before I can click "begin download", it says I'm not waiting for any. It won't even let me see the ad!

looks like a remake of KLAX A game I had on the ATARI Lynx, back in the day,. tiles flowing down a convayor, and you caught them and stacked them to make matches,. great game that. I am interested in how they read the music to generate the tracks and 'cars',. and how it controls,. but alas they are only taking emails and no d/l :( it looks quite nice,.

I tried some D&B, but it's got nothing - I say nothing - on Ministry.
Although their take on Roadhouse Blues makes it nigh on unplayable, you'll crap laughing trying to keep up!

I enjoyed played Aesop Rock - Gun For the Whole Family with Audiosurf. The song changes in tempo at certain points so it really adds some fire to the mix. Good stuff.

Chiptunes tend to fail on this hugely... Well, Crazy Comets at least.
