Is that Game Tap thing ABSOLUTELY free as long as I watch some ads...or one of those that's-how-they-get'cha things?

It would be so cool if someone would make some picks from the lesser known (i.e. indie) games being given away for free on gametap, if there are any great ones there. For now, I'm downloading Psychonauts.

Shouldn't it be "Indie News: February 5th" instead of January? :P

Yet another Space Hulk? Well, at least this one looks better than others...

As far as I know, there's absolutely no 'watch ads and we'll let you play' stuff on the free Gametap titles. They're basically 100% free games as a taster for the full service.
I know it's very not-indie, but I wholeheartedly reccomend Gametap. When I subscribed, it was $60 for a year. $5 monthly (effectively) for new games every week, some of them brand new (Tomb Raider Anniversary and Jericho were there on their retail launch-days) isn't to be sniffed at.
Oh, and they've got a bunch of indie games too. They recently signed Moonpod, so there's Starscape and Mr Robot on there. Battlefront, too, so you've got Dropteam on there as well, which is a great little indie future-tank-sim.
Man, I sound like an advert here now, don't I? Guess that's how much I reccomend the service, really.

There are 2 problems with gametap (as far as i know) you have to install their player (similar to Steam) and the games are single player only, no multiplayer.. apart that you have 70 free games..

Well, there's no real alternative to having a player/launcher. Anything else would be a gigantic flashing neon sign saying 'WAREZ PARTY HERE'.
For what its worth, the Gametap player app is a helluva lot better now than it used to be. More organized, cleaner, less random flashy pictures and video.
As for the singleplayer issue? Half-true. As they point out, the emulated arcade games are all playable online. As for PC games, I'd say about 50% of them have functioning multiplayer - a lot of the older ones require CD-keys which Gametap just can't generate them selves, and publishers apparently didn't want to come up with either.
Quite a lot of games *do* work multiplayer though. You just have to check. They're not officially supported online though, so if you do have any tech trouble, it's not Gametaps problem.

Another one for press: Riff - Everyday Shooter appeared in the Metro newspaper of 24/01 here. A scan of the article and a translation of it to English are pending acceptance.
