This looks pretty amazing. I must say, I didn't enjoy Noitu Love... something felt off about the gameplay mechanics or something. But this looks fiendishly awesome.

I love his animation work. Some of those lost titles look like they could make great games. In particular, the gothic-style one with that big white skeleton-type boss thing.

That looks freaking amazing. I notice there's an added pony tail to Noitu (if that's still his name) compared to the first trailer. I loved the boss battles in the first one, looks like this one will also be good.

I thought this wasn't the same character as in the first game - this one looks more like a girl to me and we all know that konjak likes to draw sexy girls. ^^

Anyway - this game looks like a ton of awesomeness! I could see it coming out on the NDS, especially since there's a stylus for the "mouse control". =)

Any plans like these, konjak? =)

Amazing!

It looks so awesomely retro. Can't wait for the demo, and the full release should be worth the money.

Main character is called Xoda Rap. That's Paradox backwards.

Ha - so I was right about the protagonist being a girl. I knew that I read about it somewhere... Like here:

:-D

I'm really, really looking forward to this. Konjak knows how to make boss battles.

Is he coding that by himself as well as making the art? Damn, I couldn't make half of that even if someone gave me the art for free..

I played this many times at GDC, and it is amazing. I can't wait. ;D

Looks fantastic, and I'll be paying up the moment it's released. Can't get enough of those grinning darns!

My one hope/wish for the game is that there's difficulty levels, and that they do more than just decrease the amount of health you have. I'm thinking along the lines of maybe Iwanaga, where bosses got more complex, ammo management became more of an issue, and in some cases, entirely new enemies turned up.

That's my one hope, though - it'll add replay value to something that already looks absurdly fun to play.

Wonder why it went from NES style to SNES/DS style in one fell swoop? Looks and plays nothing like the first one.

Must have really wanted to use the "grinning darns".

Is that a bad thing? I for my part am not THAT retro - if I wanted to play NES games then I'd have a whole back-catalogue to choose from. ;-)

Thanks everyone!

It's true that I only kept the universe for this game.

Also, there is speed and behaviour differences between difficulties. Noitu 1 was pretty lazy with that.

I'm not saying that was a bad thing. I'm just saying it seems odd that the only constant (wtf I sound like Lost) is the enemy. It's like having robot goombas who spew out rabbits when killed.
Just thought someone with the talent of Cognac would have made something new for an obviously better game.

But I like Darns... :(

God forbid we have a Mario game whose gameplay deviates from the original SMB, retaining only the setting and the enemies!

Wait, that one stole its setting from the original Mario Bros game! Hacks! Hacks!

Just thought someone with the talent of Cognac would have made something new for an obviously better game.

Ehm? He IS making something new because the gameplay is completely different. Actually keeping the continuity between several titles while changing the underlying mechanics is the way to go IMHO.

It's better than making clone-y sequels or even games that pretend to be different but actually show nothing new.

Well, I guess you can't please everybody.

And by the way:

a) I don't know about any "obviously better games" - are you Captain Obvious incarnate or something?

b) You might reserve your judgement until you get to actually PLAY the game. Usually that's the way to go...

But I like Darns... :(

No worries, konjak - so do we, so do we... =)

What about my question about a potential port of the game to other systems? Haven't you been approached by anybody during GDC?

I'm worried by that swirly reticule thing? Is this going to have Abuse style controls? And if so, can I control it via right stick instead of mouse?

Yeah, it's going to have a hybrid control system. Heard nothing but good things about it though.

Also, thanks plenty, Konjak - you've crushed the one fear I had about this game (that it wouldn't have good difficulty scaling), so you can pretty much take my money aas soon as soon as you've set a price on this.

It really does look like a long-lost Treasure game, and I hope you take that as only the highest praise. The trailer really seems to capture the manic sillyness of something like Gunstar Heroes, only with better graphics and a funky weird control system.

To think that it's all a one-man project. Bloody impressive!

If the only constant is the enemies, be definition the rest is new.

Gotta love people who complain just for the sake of it.

YES!!!!!! noitu love 2 is THE reason I check indie gaming blogs, always hoping that today is the day of release. This is going to be, hands down the best indie game of all time. period. jokiam sandberg is the best indie designer on the scene and the best indie game designer of all time!! his games are a stunning one man show of talent and artistic brillinace!! the guy is a true genius!
i just can't say enough! noitu love 2 IS indie gaming at it's finest!!

you can put this game on the shelf at gamestop and you'd f*cking swear it was a konami or Capcom masterpiece straight from japan!!! and that's no joke!!

in this crappy world of indie gaming, everyone is all ego and no substaince, but joakim sandberg is quiet and humble as he turns out masterpiece after masterpiece! his immense talent and his attitude is what indie gaming SHOULD BE!! he refuses to sell out, just making fun games that he wants to make!! god friggin bless him!! i'm going on the record right now...best indie game of all time!!!!

Whoa - this is surely a lot of praise for a game you probably haven't played yet. :-P

Almost as bad as dissing the title in advance...

I have only one question:

"When?"

Amazing!

how a one man team can do something like that ...
