Evolution Shmup is Petri's experimental attempt at creating the perfect vertical shooter by tracking the amount of time that a player spends on each random iteration of a new game. Every refresh creates a different result, using elements from versions of Evolution Shmup which players have spent the most time on.

[This game is one of the entries into TIGSource's Procedural Generation contest.]

Doctor! My brain hurts!

I'm sorry Petri, but I didn't find this game fun at all. You've done some cool little games, but this just isn't one of them.

The graphics are bad and the gameplay is just plain boring. Java is slow and the evolution(?) of the enemies was hardly noticeable.

Well, this is just a small proof-of-concept but you really should have spent the time you worked on this with Crayon Physics Deluxe, because that is what everyone is waiting from you, you like it or not.

@Ivan
Artists are not public property. Feel free to scrap CPD Petri, do as you please.

Saying that when i had a go at this, tbh i had no fricken idea what was going on. It didn't feel like a game. Ho hum at least it was probably and interesting experiment.

it's a wip as far as i know. check the latest tigsource competition

@Ivan,

It's not Java, so what do you know?
