OMG, can't wait till it done.

I'm still not very enthusiastic about the playing such games in-browser...

Doesn't run on any non-Windoze platform and I never would install such a thing like Unity into my Browser -- there's bloatware and viri etc enough in the Internet. :-(

That's just meaningless FUD about the Unity framework. What utter nonsense.

(picks up jaw)

Wow!

Brotip: When making an argumentative point, always use the word "etc."! It can only strengthen your argument.

Awesome! I like it better than ORVS already. :-D

This one will be a major hit on the internet!

@Ano
Haha, you haven't installed it but you already know that it's bad?!
Unity is OK and you can play Splume with it, one of the best puzzlers ever!

By non-Windows platform do you mean Linux? Because we developed the game on a Mac...

Confirmed. Runs great on my Mac. ^_^

I have not touched this.

But by the name "Jetpack Brontosaurus" this may very well be the best game ever created.

Apparently you haven't heard of "Off-Road Velociraptor Safari"

Really fun little alpha, this. Physics are spot-on. All I want from the full version (aside from More, obviously) is some sort of manual camera control (I keep reaching for the mouse to pan it around) and maybe the ability to walk around on the ground. Although it's funny seeing poor old Brontosaurus kinda collapsing into a big lizardy heap on landing.

You've GOT to be kidding me. My dad's computer doesn't have a graphics card that supports shaders. F*** Dell!

I guess I'll have to wait till I get back to college to play it again on my own computer.

Have to skip, don't want to install Unity. I like to keep my browser clean.

To all you paranoiacs, you do know that just having the Unity plugin doesn't mean that it runs all the time, right? Your browser will get no more 'dirty', there will be no viruses, no hacking. It's just a piece of software that launches when you get to a site that uses the engine.

Just like the Flash player or the Shockwave player etc...

Well - I guess you just can't reason with clueless people displaying unfounded fear of what they don't understand...

While Unity is totally safe/ does not run unless launched by a utility (ala adobe acrobat or something like that)

It would be cool if the actual unity page explained that a bit. Its not unreasonable to be suspicious of installing a third party app to run a web based game. In this case the game requires such an app because of the 3d graphics content/physics in use.

Unity is a pretty impressive little 3d engine ! I reccomend checking out their site to get a feel for what their software does.. definately intresting if you like game modding/ 3d modeling.

Oh and When are we getting a console release of Offroad veliciraptor safari? With Head to head multiplayer please! Maybe as a wiiware release? :)

At least a standalone PC application release. My FF is eating 60MB of RAM with 3 text tabs open - playing something 3D in it scares me.

The fairest comparison to make concerning Unity is with Flash, back when adoption levels were much lower.

Personally I think it makes a lot of sense to be reluctant to install plugins. This isn't a criticism of Unity specifically. It's simply that if dozens of games and publishers all want their own custom binaries in my browser that will turn into a complete nightmare.

The only way to vote against these kinds of technologies is not to install them. That's a decision for each individual to make.

There's almost certainly a security concern to installing Unity, or any browser plug-in -- if there's a security hole in Unity, then any website you visit could exploit that hole to break in to your computer. Every plug-in you install increases the code you implicitly trust to be secure.

Flash and Adobe Reader have both had exploits targeted at them in the past; it would not be at all surprising to see the same for Unity.

I don't even have Flash. I'd rather have an executable file that I can run outside of a browser, pour examplé when I'm offline.

And the amount of bloatware that clogged up my pre-formatted system makes me wary. So it's not "unfounded".
