Ad Nauseam 2 seemed to be a pretty big hit on GamingW compared to your other games and a lot of people have said good things about it, what was the concept and idea behind it?

Well, first I started out wanting to make a game with powerful explosions. A shoot 'em up felt like the easiest way to do it. Technical limitations pretty much excluded most other genres anyway. So I decided to make as many enemies as I could before I got bored, and ended up with three levels worth.

I wanted the game to have a theme so I designed it after the game's title. I used the internet as the point of focus. The first level in the game is about my hate for emoticons. Unfortunately I've started to use them myself. It seems to be really hard to avoid them.

The next bit was about text, which there really seems to be no limit to how much there is on the net. And most of it is a waste of bandwidth, it seems. The final bit is about spam. Here we got porn, viagra, drugs and money, which seems to be the kind of e-mails I usually get that end up in the junk folder.

What programs do you use to make the graphics in your games?

MS Paint, or GM's built-in graphics editor which is practically the same as MS Paint.

Cactus Interview (Gaming World, forums)

Comments

No mention of Akuchizoku. How odd!

Damn, just look at that sexy beast.

cactus goes as cactus_squid now?

PATRICK STUMP

A new alias! So now he can move on, forget Akuchizoku, and not take the blame. Cause cactus said the game'd be on, not cactus_squid!

A cactus post getting less that 10 comments in the first hours? Are people getting tired of cactus or what?

cactus has been using cactus_squid or cactussquid for a while on Youtube and DeviantArt. I think it's just because "cactus" would be a common name, but then again, my hats are made out of cloth and not tinfoil.

Yeah, cactus isn't a very uncommon nickname. I could've used cactus2, but I really wanna be number one.

As for Akuchizoku, I actually worked on it a bit a few days ago. I replaced the sound system I had used and the lag that was bothering me disappeared.

I'll try to finish it asap, but don't hold your breath. I don't have that much time to spare these days :(

HOW do I know the above comment was by cactus, the REAL cactus, and not anyon else posting as cactus?

or was it by cactus the former self of cactus_squid, hence, is not valid? I'm so FUCKING confused here!!

Yo, I was the interviewer.

"No mention of Akuchizoku. How odd!"

I've never even heard of this game til now, it wasn't posted on our forums and I don't really follow cactus everywhere like a stalker, I swear. I bet it'll be awesome like all his other games, though.

Akuchizoku surely IS awesome, cactus has posted 2 teasers to it on YouTube where you can see the first footage from it. It's a shoot'em'up with low-resolution-graphics and a gameplay that looks very addicting.

It's nice to get the backgrounds of Ad Nauseam, I somehow knew it was kinda inspired by the internet. :)
It was only the final level that confused me until now.
