Remake Game Pick: Rockman 7-FC (Mend)
Rockman 7-FC is a project to port the gameplay of Rockman 7 from the 16-bit SNES style to the 8-bit NES-style gameplay. Tap the X key rapidly to shoot, hold the same button to charge up for a special attack, and press the Z key to jump. Hold the down cursor key and the jump button at the same time to slide.
Use the Q key to access your inventory and swap abilities, or press the R key to reset back to the introductory screen at any time. Abilities can be switched using the A and S keys as well. Players start out with Rush Coil, the robotic dog which can be called upon to launch you higher than your normal jumps.
The configuration file can be used to change window size. Press the print screen button on the keyboard to capture a screenshot at any time, which is then saved as a new bitmap file in the game folder automatically. This feature can be very useful when typing in your password to resume your progress. (FAQs)

I don't really get it. What is this supposed to be?

Wow, that's pretty cool. Fits well with the upcoming Mega Man IX, which also uses the style of the original NES games.
Posted by: Roto13 | June 28, 2008 5:44 PM
Yeah... looks cool, but why? And how can that be legal anyway?
Posted by: Jean-Sebastien | June 28, 2008 6:54 PM
Simply awesome.
Posted by: Rich | June 28, 2008 7:58 PM
I don't think the relevant question is the legality, or whether or not it's really a necessary remake at all. No, I think the truly relevant question is...
Freezeman first?!? Are they out of their mind?!? No way would I enter that stage without the junk shield. :)

Why should we download older version? Newest one is 0802a.

Bravo. A stunning demake.

"Rockman7-FC is a remake of the similarly-titled SNES release with a style that closely resembles the prequels instead of an updated look made popular by the portable console versions."
For some reason, that sentence gives me a headache. Couldn't you have just said that it's a project to port the gameplay of Megaman 7 from the 16-bit SNES style to 8-bit NES-style gameplay?
Posted by: Dominic White | June 28, 2008 9:56 PM
freakin' awesome.
Now I can add MM7 to my list of *cough* Nes roms.

Is there a way to get this to work with a USB gamepad? My extremely finite japanese skills wear unable to decode anything useful for that purpose.
Posted by: X | June 29, 2008 3:37 AM
I was just thinking of an 8-bit version of MegaMan 7!
I hope they do MegaMan 8 soon

hm maybe the nostalgia of the NES style will make this incredibly mediocre SNES game somehow more fun...
The regular Mega Man games (not X) always felt better to me on the NES anyways.

Where I grew up "freeze cracker" was a command not a weapon.
Posted by: crackers | June 29, 2008 1:31 PM
My guess is that Mega Man 8 would be a bit harder to "de-make" than Mega Man 7, given that you'd have to make 8-bit swimming sprites for Mega Man (who never really swam in the first seven games), and kicking sprites for the Mega Ball animation. (Not to mention, considerable slowdown is a likely consequence of the deluge of Metools in an 8-bit Tenguman stage...)

I find it odd you used both of my vids for this. Anyways since i'm the one who made this vid the 8-bit port is alot better to play then the snes port.
Posted by: blzdout | June 30, 2008 12:20 AM
Also it would be nice you even credited me for using my vids.
Posted by: blzdout | June 30, 2008 12:25 AM
I just can´t find the punch upgrade for the S.Adaptor... in the programed images you can see it included.. but I can`t find it in any of the stages. I hope someone help me find it.
Posted by: pipino | June 30, 2008 2:15 AM
Actually those were my vids and I don't appreciate blzdout trying to take credit for my work.
Posted by: rockmanzxrx | June 30, 2008 4:54 AM
are you serious. it my youtube account and your saying it your vid. ok im just going to stop everyone from viewing this vid. it bad enough your lying and if you even click my name my own youtube account is there. you say it your vid again and i'm just going to take this vid off this site easily.
Posted by: blzdout | June 30, 2008 5:11 AM
since this person think i'm lying that i don't own this vid compare names and learn where you get your resources next time before talking.

Wow... shitty demade of a game and a You Tube like comments thread.
Amazing! Is the indie scene so slow that we need this?
Posted by: Jean-Sebastien | June 30, 2008 2:55 PM
he's lying I made teh videos credit me lol
Posted by: Terry | June 30, 2008 3:08 PM
I made the videos and so did my wife.

The game looks pretty cool. It's alot more polished and solid than what you get from Cactus. I find it weird that he gets cocksuckery and this game gets trashed. This one is ten times better than all his together.
Posted by: Derek | June 30, 2008 6:32 PM
Hm, no I just don't enjoy this much at all. Feels too much like the later Mega Man NES games with the same ridiculous looking slide move and the stupid dog. And it's based on a SNES sequel that wasn't even much good.
I might be interested in an all new Mega Man game that has less of the later game gimmicks. The series peaked at Mega Man 2 in my opinion.

Derek : You might be on the wrong site if this is the kind of game you are looking for
Posted by: Jean-Sebastien | July 1, 2008 10:03 PM
Jean-Sebastian : Since the game is featured here, he obviously isn't on the wrong site.
Posted by: Anonymous | July 1, 2008 11:51 PM
...what's wrong with Cactus?
Yeah, saw this a while back. Good stuff. Though porting Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 to the Mega Drive would be a nice idea. Capcom only bothered to do 1, 2, and 3...

Considering that the video is not embedded, but rather a link to the youtube page itself (where you could easily see the video submitter), is any additional credit necessary?
Posted by: wow | July 5, 2008 9:48 PM
I love this, there's nothing like 8-bit graphics with good old school game play. I just beat Cloud Man, a must play for any MM fan. Thumbs Up from me! ;D

Derek is a fag, if u only like MM1 and MM2 then dont look for more games and keep playing those 2 in ur hole but dont talk shit stupid bitch
Posted by: TheManBearPig | July 12, 2008 8:52 AM
I find this a lot more enjoyable than the SNES version. The SNES version felt incredibly clunky and cramped compared to the NES games.
Also, anonymous, I hardly see how sliding and Rush detract from the games at all. Sliding just adds another option for dodging enemy attacks, and Rush is pretty much the exact same concept as items 1-3 in MM2. I don't see you complaining about those.
Now, one valid complaint that I can come up with, even for this port, is that the level design has way too many breaks where you basically have to sit there and blast at enemies doing the same attacks over and over. It gets a little irritating, and it feels like a lot of it was put in just to make stages seem larger than they are. Still, it's a pretty nice game.

Is there a rom nes file for this?

In addition, the "8-bit style" uses the same size screens but smaller characters, making you feel as though you're running through an even greater space.

Ah, I thought there might be different versions out, since I just got the game from a random torrent and started noticing differences from blzdout's videos. Is there a website that always has the latest version?

If anyone knows what synthesizer he used to render the soundtrack here, I'd really appreciate it ;)
Posted by: Spargleblarg | July 26, 2008 11:19 PM
I got the same problem as Pipino. Can't find the Rockety Punch. Little help? Is it still in Turbo Man's stage at all?
Posted by: H Hog | August 9, 2008 8:12 PM
The PU (Rocket Punch) is is TurboMan stage, right where it is the SNES version. When you start climbing the ladder, the traffic light platform is "off". Hit it with the electric weapon to turn it "on", and the item pops out.

Well about my earlier comment, well, I think every game should be compared to Cactus because Cactus is pretty much gaming itself, especially indie gaming. I think about Cactus 24/7, no lie. I wanted to make TIGSource a Cactus fansite once and devote every news bit about him but that proved unpopular and I had to talk about other games even though I really hate to.
Posted by: Derek | September 15, 2008 9:28 PM
But recently I've tried other games and they... are better.. I can't believe I can say this, but I gotta admit Cactus isn't all that I think of him to be. But Cactus still he has a special place in my heart and maybe someday other people will feel the same and I can devote an entire site to him and replace TIGSource once and for all.

is there a way to sub a usb gamepad in for the keyboard (q, a,s, z,x?)
Posted by: dave | October 8, 2008 8:42 PM
I downloaded this game lately, but I cant adapt myself key arrangement which set standard. So I want to change key arrangement. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
I want to know that.

Ah... Config.exe is answer.
Posted by: Moe Kim | November 2, 2008 2:21 PM
I love this 8-Bit remake, just would be great if I could also switch to a full screen mode and play it on my tv connected to the computer, how can I do this, the config.exe offers no full screen mode?
Posted by: Largo77 | November 20, 2008 5:44 AM
IMO, it sucks to play theese on the keyboard. Try getting a super smart joy instead. It let's you connect your old SNES controller which is awsome for playing everything from nintendos old consoles. Just played this in my bathtub!
BTW, is MegaMan 8 ported like this aswell?
Posted by: guns_blazing | November 25, 2008 10:36 AM
Sorry, I must seem retarded but it was MM6 I played in the tub. Can't get my pad to work with this...
I don't know how theese thing work, but couldn't this be made a ROM aswell? Pleese?
Posted by: guns_blazing | November 25, 2008 11:35 AM
Can't wait for the megaman 8 demake which the sprites look really good for the game, you should look at the site.

I can only laugh at the ignorance and the stupidity in this thread.
Megaman 7 for SNES = Suck
Megaman 7 NES Remake = Awesome on every level.
The end. There is no debate. This is a fact, and if you don't agree, you are wrong.
This is unbelivably great, and the creator of this deserves all of the praise in the world.
And he deserves none of your stupid fucking, pointless, ignorant insults.
