A fan-made trailer for Dragoon Entertainment's newly-released 2D indie RPG, The Demon Rush. A demo can be downloaded from the official web site, while the full game costs roughly $10. Note that The Demon Rush requires at least 256 MB of free memory to run properly. (fan art by Origami and others in the extended)

By far the greatest gaming experience of this or any summer.

Wow... from this trailer... the game looks so fail...

Tell me, is this ANY good? It looks horrible.

The can't be fucking serious. They want people to pay for this shit?

Anon, you don't quite understand what a joke is, do you?

"I failed my entrance exam to be a scientist"

"Hello there, you beautiful young lady"

Err Jeff, the guy's not joking.

That was great.

Pure hotness. I hope they port this to XNA so I can play it on my 360.

Now that I've actually played the demo and read people's reactions I have a slightly different opinion. I expected a buggy, unfinished mess. What I got was at least a solid playable game.

In all fairness, people both on something awful (expected) and here (maybe not so much) are a little rough on this game. Clearly this guy put a decent amount of work into it. It would do well as freeware, but it seems to have more content than most freeware out there, so I don't think a $5 or $10 price tag is completely unreasonable. If this game had decent music and graphics by your favorite pixel artist, it would at worst be a "solid" JRPG.

Maybe this guy should invest or partner with a decent artist and a musician.

Some guy on Something Awful says: "Every game made from scratch in 48 hours during every Ludum Dare contest is better than this game."

Hah, apparently this guy never played any of my entries in LD48 :).

...Funny, I kind of never even getting started making my games because I just assume they'll suck.

Makes me rethink that theory. I gotta agree, be nothing suspect about this game if it were free, 'cuz...everyone's gotta start SOMEWHERE. But that isn't the case, huh...

This is truly Indie Gaming at it's finest. I feel the author is being too generous, offering such a spectacle of a game for a meager 10 dollars. This is a stunning example of how games can indeed be viewed as an art form. Dragoon Entertainment has shown the world their chops, and we should all be privileged to witness this marvel. Brooks Cracktackle will go down in history as one of the finest fictional heroes of all time.

I hate you all for playing along with this.

OMG this is the best thing since Leeroy Jenkins!!!

He slashed the price down to $10 from $20 after getting some feedback for the game.

Still no clue why he think anyone would even pay $10 for the game.

I bought this game. I was expecting ten minutes of boredom, followed by a good old belly laugh at the author's expense on YouTubs.

What I was not expecting was a game of surprising depth and dynamism. It has truly raised the bar for indie games. For a first project, to feature such engaging character dynamics (like the moment where Knight reveals to Cherry-- well, I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it's pretty damn special) interwoven with a comprehensive and richly-detailed universe is truly special.

Sure, the game graphics leave something to be desired; some of the mechanics are poorly implemented and inexperience has taken its toll, but when I somewhere between the first screen of crates and the second I felt something. Awe. Full marks to that man.

Ambushed!

Kent Buckle.

The trailer is a joke, the fan art is a joke, but the game itself is not a joke. The designer is dead serious about charging for this.

Eagerly anticipating the novelised adventures of Cherry Venus and the Horn Knight

MMMMMMMM

I <3 Brooks Cracktackle

The programmer graphics are offputting, the interface is wonky, the story is hackneyed - I have trouble thinking of one good thing to say about this game...except that I wanted to continue playing it, which is perhaps the best thing that can be said about ANY game.

Hmmm... I just can't get past the fact that it looks like it was made in MS paint. Most indies have a great graphical style... this just sucks.

Even if he did some pixel stuff, it would look more styles than this.

Many great indie games are made with MSPaint, 5 days a Stranger certainly was. This one reminds me of the old days, when I used to "work" with RPGMaker and every teenager would dream of becoming the new Sakaguchi or something. Also, that trailer made my day.

God, the graphic sure looks "anime-fanboyish-orrible".....

What really blows the mind is that he spent 3 years and more than $1000 making it.

Remember that he originally wanted $20 for this.

$20!

This single post felt too much /v/ like and has lowered my view of this blog. Amazing.

Who do all the characters look like anime girls?

oh well. this game sucks. but still it received a lot of attention just because the creator demanded money for it.
