Nice voice-acting

Ok, he has a pet roach, that wins me over :D

I can't wait. This game is going to be very, very good.

And yeah, the voice acting isn't so good, but that's part of the cost of independent game development. :)

I wanna pay. NOW.

Looks worth a download, I'll try the demo and see if it's worth it.

Those guys are addicted to terrible voice-acting -- their IGF entry last year was the same thing, amazing game with cringe-inducing voices.

Why not just use text?! It doesn't make any sense..

You expect good voice acting in a game with such a B-Movie concept? I mean, come on. It's an overweight guy with a claymore, smacking insects.

I will, of course, buy it the minute it comes out.

Hey! I thought the voices were pretty good, and it looks quite well done (aside from slightly pixelated graphics.

If you don't like the voice acting - there's subtitles and the option to disable voices, just like in their last game...

I can't say I like the way he holds that sword, really annoys me :S

I love the voice acting. I wouldn't have Bethro with any other voice. The slightly independent feel to some of the minor characters is part of the charm. Bethro Budkin may you never change.

Just finished playing the demo now (someone on the forums there posted a link).

It's really good, not sure about the use of Comic Sans (apparently, no other font looked right according to the devs) but that's just me being picky.
Seems a bit more comical than the other DRODs (not that they didn't have their moments), but I'm not complaining. The RPG elements are well implemented but still stay true to the puzzle element.

Just made it through the demo as well. A very enjoyable game. Though it does have its drawbacks.

Level design is quickly maze like and unique. The voice acting and interface are all intuitive expecially to former players. I liked the right click option and the click to move as addtional optional features. The story was interesting and amusing in the familiar sense of humor we get from Caravel Games.

This newest entry also has a few drawbacks though.
In DRODs previous installments each room was a puzzle self contained and independant. You could look at it and theoreticly mentally work your way through. You didn't really have to do much guesswork if you were good and if you did it wasn't much effort to restart a room.

With DROD RPG the entire floor must be looked at as a singular puzzle if you wish to optomize your key usage, damage output/taken. Sure I have no doubt that you can beat any level by opening doors in any order but that too diminishes some of the challenge of the game.

I was not challenged once durring the demo quite a difference from the previous demos for the earlier entries. Yes DROD RPG is a different animal but as a DROD game I do draw parallels. I also have do doubt of the challenge of later levels though if that challenge only comes in familiar DROD like terrain based puzzles then some of the novelty of the combat wears off.

livejapan, this game was inspired by Tower of the Sorceror. Which uses the same combat system, and is punishingly hard. (I can't get past the second boss out of 5 in tower). So definitely this combat system can be as challenging as you want it to be, the early levels are easy to let people get used to it, but I'm sure there will be plenty of difficulty later on.

Livejapan, you're aware that Beethro's voice has changed, but the new guy's just as good, he's Daniel Mellman or Snacko as he's known on the forums.

Where'd you get the impression Beethro's in there? :P
