What has been seen cannot be unseen.

So indie game look like this ?
It's look like a pyjamas party in one of those American kitchen...

Yep - believe it. This is how you have to live if you want to make indie games. There is no other way.

what i don't get is why anybody would care about this. sure i like games but i don't want to see a bunch of dudes hanging out because they all make games big deal

This is not how you live if you want to make indie games. I mean, bless these bunch of ruffians, but some of us indie devs aren't virgins, frat-boy-wannabes, or fashion-retarded...all crammed in a room smelling like B.O and last night's pizza. Grow up.

Opt2not: Except that most of us are married or have long-term girlfriends, probably dress better than you, and go home and have a decent life in the evenings.

I Googled your nick and I all I found were trollish posts on the Internet. For some reason I couldn't find anything you created, discounting bad vibes and baseless insults.

But whatever makes you feel good about yourself, I guess! Thanks for keeping the community spirit alive!

Matthew: I guess, if you call posing in the same t-shirt and cut-off socks "dressing better that I", then all the power to ya.

My comment was referring to David and Chetyre's post. Indie game dev's should not be lumped together into the same stereo-type that these guys are clearly displaying.

You're right, most of us devs are married/have long-term gf's, so for those out there that are wondering what indie-development looks like, take the above pictures "with a grain of salt", because some of us have a bit more respect for ourselves.

..and you won't find anything I've done associated with this name, do you really think I would post these comments under my real name? Don't be naive.
The reality is, anonymity is the internet's bloodline. If you really take people's comments on a blog to heart, perhaps you're in the wrong business.

Well at least those grumbling Cortex Command preorderers can see their money went into a nifty fridge ;)

I wouldn't expect that to be the case anyway. I think what we have here is a case of someone getting their panties in a bunch.

the best response to internet shit is to just ignore it

Internet Serious Business! But really, I was watching the live stream and I was like, oh my, some actually came from a foreign country just for this?! Really boring, but if they enjoy it alright, it's their time.

Seems like wearing gloves to code is the fad among these folks. BS!

I think Opt2's big beef is that a bunch of indie game makers ARE STANDING IN THE KITCHEN...without any food, drinks, games...or anything.

His point is that you make indie game developers look like people who like to stand in the kitchen not doing anything.

At least, that's what I gather from his posts and the pic.

What I gather from his posts is that he's a gigantic penis.

Wow, so much hate for the TIGJam :( What did people expect? I'll remember to order strippers next time to make the live streaming a little more interesting.

The internet gets jealous of real life a lot.

@ Opt2Not

"If you really take people's comments on a blog to heart, perhaps you're in the wrong business."

But you took the comments of David and Chetyre to heart!?

@ Opt2not: Matthew is one of "those guys," you idiot. And that was the pre-Jam hangout at Adam's, anyway. (Idiot.)

lol

@ Matthew

Search Google for "God of Deep Fry Myspace" for further informations.

Doublethink Services at work again I see :)

Knew I should have saved that post.

@Byakuya no Majū: Looks like he took it down? What did it say?

kicker: it gave personal details about op2not.

anyway both extremes are dumb. the guys sitting in their basement with hot sauce stains all over their clothes and the guys finding pictures of them and picking them and their interests apart. this whole thread is dumb, and i'd really like it if this blog just kept to reporting about new games and maybe, maybe the occasional interesting review or article.

alias: Were the details interesting? What i mean is, did it show anything he's worked on?
Just wondering if this guy has any credibility behind his critique...

@ alias and kicker

Yes "Opt2Not" is working in the games industry but this doesn't give him the right to act like an ar*e.
Matthew is a real person and doesn't hide behind his nick like "Opt2Not" and yes I gave personal details but only those "Opt2Not" himself was willing to show to everyone on the internet (and they were easy to Google).
I hope that he has learned his lesson and that next time he will think twice before insulting others.

@ Byakuya no Majū
Sure, opt2not's post wasn't too tactful. But I can understand his point. He's most likely some bitter game-dev guy that needed something to lash out on.

But that was pretty dirty of you to post his myspace. First off, I wouldn't have thought to do a search on his nickname and myspace...heck, i wouldn't have cared enough to bother. But hey, some people don't have anything better to do.
Secondly, are you seriously willing to destroy someone's reputation because he made some stupid remarks on the internet?
Seems like an awful amount of effort to be spiteful, which is what you are doing.

I'm sad about these comments, which is probably forcing me to take this site off my bookmarks. There are other indie dev sites that I can go to where I don't have to put up with this immaturity.

Good luck in the future indiegames.com, you have lost a loyal patron.

@ TimmyTimaow

"He's most likely some bitter game-dev guy that needed something to lash out on."

And this of course gives him every right to troll not only this but also other sites and brag about his anonymity.
I'm sorry but this is a poor excuse.

"...are you seriously willing to destroy someone's reputation because he made some stupid remarks on the internet?"

The reveal of his identity isn't hurting his reputation it are his words that he wrote to a fellow developer.
