Collapse is a third person shooter created by Creoteam, featuring a protagonist named Rodan who has to fight back against the invasion of an alien race with an assortment of ranged and melee weapons at his disposal.

Use the W, A, S and D keys to move, press the space key to jump, and hold the left mouse button to shoot. The right mouse button can be used to steady your aim. Press the Q, 1, 2 or 3 key to swap weapons, and tap the E key when standing close to an item on the ground to collect it. This is only applicable if you do not carry the same item in your possession.

The Ctrl key is used to duck behind cover, and holding down the R key reloads your current weapon. This demo does take a while to complete, and ends with a boss battle which will require the player to engage in close combat for any damage to be registered on their adversary.

There is currently no English translation for the demo, but the menu options shouldn't take too much effort to figure out. (source, screenshots)

It looks interesting, but is this an indie game at all?

Indie or not, it is nothing short of impressive. While I basically just mashed the mouse button for combat, it still felt very fluid and satisfying. Fighting also isn't bad, but a lot more average.
As long as fighting really isn't just button mashing I'll definitely keep an eye on this :)

You can see that they were trying to go for a poor man's Gears of War by the setting and third person mechanic alone. However, after completing the demo I have to say it's quite fun to play, although without easier combos the sword fighting is a bit of a click-a-thon.

Creoteam is not a Russian, but Ukrainian team based in Kiev.

This project is not indie. Game was sponsored and published by Russian company Buka.

fluid, are you kidding me?
the movement and combat are sluggish as hell.

and how is this indie? as craydays said, it's published by buka.

this is just another average/lame generic hacknslash.

but hey, download the demo! by all means. i made an effort and played it for 20 minutes, maybe you'll last longer.

dunno what this article is doing here.. i wonder if there's gonna be an article on legend: hand of god too. it's just as indie as this piece of crap. and just as bad.

I played through the demo now and I'm still liking it. Sure, it's a lot more of an "average action game" than "blockbusters" like GoW, but I enjoyed it. Shooting is totally generic, but decent enough and melee combat is simple, but very entertaining and not totally based on buttonmashing, as stronger combos are executed via timed clicks. It's not very tactical, but the animation is great and it is quite challenging.

I definitely wouldn't spend 50 bucks on it, but for a budget price I'm sure I'd get my money's worth.

This post should be pulled. This is NOT an indie title... or do we want to start seeing stuff from Valve and the like here as well?

Great looking game, I'm excited about it. I want to play it, but it is definitely NOT indie.

The main man maybe the lamest dude i've ever seen.. nose of an russian boxer. moustache of german 80's pornstar, drearlocks and hair combed on forhead! plus ofcourse buffy-vampire-slayer-like-ultra-cool-sword and too cool to be true armor.. anyway, the game itself was decent, not as good as you might think based on the trailer, but ok. graphics were also pretty.

that's some of the most impressive animation i've seen in a long time.

"that's some of the most impressive animation i've seen in a long time."

It's called motion capture.

This is one of the titles that first appeared on the KRI conference in Moscow (I think in 2006). That conference is mainly for mainstream developers but there is a section for poor hobby developers who seek publishers. One or two games each year turn out to be not so bad and do get support.
So Collapse at least started as indie project :)

Hi all!
Despite I am very pleased to see it here, I must agree it is not indie :)

Indie or not, it looks good, and seems to be fun to play. Unfortunately I get the feeling the game likes some graphic chips, but not other, and somehow mine is not on the first list. As soon as I have some bigger space in my view it lags as hell, getting utterly unplayable.
And I can't even try to adjust the settings since I only had one year of russian and the little I learned is far gone!
