Karatekamania is a music rhythm game created by the developers of Mogura 2 (article), where players are rated based on the timing and accuracy of their key presses while a song is being played in the background. Inspired by Nintendo's Rhythm Tengoku, this fan made version features slightly updated graphics, customizable settings, and even comes with an editor to facilitate the sharing of user creations.

Use the enter key, left or right mouse button to control the actions of the martial arts practitioner. Tap the space key to punch at a thrown object. Hold the same button to assume a stance, then press the up arrow key to execute a roundhouse kick. Mouse and gamepad controls are also supported.

The current build (1st style 1.7a) contains only four default levels and two songs, although new stages created by other contributors can be downloaded from Krobon Station's message board. Simply click on a link to any zip file, unzip it into the music folder and the song should be available to play from the song selection menu. (screenshot gallery)

o.o
Looks just like Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA lol

ye superscience890, the char on the screenshot is exacly like the one for GBA, maybe is a parody

It's supposed to look like Rhythm Tengoku, because it's a fangame of the Karate House minigame in it.
Looks sort of like a Stepmania but for this fun minigame.

I only found out about this yesterday, so I was pretty pleased to see it realease the day after.
I just know I'm going to mess up of the fast bits.

Oh wow, this is awesome!
You'd better post when there's updates, Tim!

Great game, but a few songs, so i downloaded some more and the game stayed even better.

Wow, this game's so fun. I've cleared all the levels on the normal settings.

Me: Where did you download more songs?

Nevermind, I'm retarded. LOL

Best rythm game I've played. I could only beat the three first levels though. Still, great fun.

Yes, it's "like" the first game in Rhythm Tengoku, but it is *exactly the same* as the 29th game in Rhythm Tengoku Gold! (except with an additional health bar and a "what's coming next" bar, which ruins the suprise of that last pot in the first song, which, by the way, is ripped from the game)
On the other hand, that's not to say it's bad. Just that it's not even a reference or parody. It is a direct copy (although with more than two songs).

love the tengoku, this made my night. now if I could only get the song out of my head, roundhouse kicking around my kitchen probably isn't the safest idea. on the subject of roundhousing:
holding a click and swinging the mouse to kick feels a lot more fun then just pressing up on the keyboard, try it

What I'm suppose to do with the barrel and bomb thing? it keep decrease hearts even I hit them accurately

Just hit the barrel normally, but keep hold of the button, then, swing your mouse up and let go at the right time.

It takes practice.

By the way, anybody know how to make your own levels? When I click the 'maker' .exe
it just makes a noise.

Seeing the computer auto-play the last song on 2.0x BPM is hilarious.
I don't think we're expected to be able to do that.

this game is so kawaiiiiii ^_________^

Where do you find the other songs for this?
