The 24-Hour Police is a 2D side-scrolling beat 'em up in the style of the Final Fight series, where players step into the shoes of a vigilante cop on a mission to take down the local mob boss and his henchmen. This translates to three stages' worth of goons who can be punched, kicked, thrown, or shot at, as you make your way towards the final showdown with the leader of the criminal organization.

Use the menu at the top of the window to configure key settings, or to switch between full screen and windowed mode. The game will only work on Windows operating systems with the Japanese language pack already installed.

Name: The 24-Hour Police

So this dude's a policeman for 24 hours? Great, sounds real neat, game of the year and all that.

is she... fighting mario and luigi?

I Think that's a man

I lol'd at Yaranaika

But does it have Weejeeeee?

Don't have japanese pack installed so I can't play.

Windows XP has very good built-in support for Japanese text. You will need your Windows XP CD’s.

Select “Switch to Classic View” on the left-hand side of the window, if it’s there. Then, select “Regional and Language Options”. Choose the “Language” tab at the top of the window, and then make sure that “Install Files for East Asian languages” is checked. Then, click the “Details” button. Click the “Add” button, and select Japanese from the list of languages. Then click OK. This should install the necessary files for using Japanese on Windows XP.

This looks awesome.

I hope there is a Shinobi/Streets of Rage crossover battle.

Not sure if it's just me, but it seems like there's a problem with the download. Keeps saying something about a directory name or volume label syntax being wrong when I try to extract it.

I can extract it, but the game doesn't work for me. I have the language pack, not sure what the deal is.

Yeah, after it extracts, I can load the game, I get a few screens, but the game stops working before the title screen.

The Help says its (c) 2001 !!
Works ok for me, seems fun, first boss (Luigi?) too dificult for me.
Remember to set regional settings as stated in
http://www.indiegames.com/features/index.php?c=faq#h2

Aw, bummer. My computer is a hand-me-down from a friend and I don't have the original install disk to set the regional settings. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though!

I love how in the video whoever's playing figures out the uppercut it working for them and just does it over and over again.

You could just use Applocale. It's pretty much guaranteed to work for this sort of thing.
