Eliss is a multi-touch based action game for the iPhone/iPod Touch developed by Steph Thirion with innovation written all over it. Lots of different coloured planets pop onto the screen and it's your job to grab them with your fingers, build them up in size by sliding them into planets of the same colour then plunge your creation into the squeesars that appear.

The problem is, if two planets of different colours collide, your health bar will decrease rather rapidly and if you don't pull them apart in time you'll meet your doom. There's other little additions here and there, like wiping stardust to keep your energy up, but this is the game in a nutshell and it's pretty fantastic to play.

Very difficult, too. You'll most likely end up dead the first couple of times you play and that will just be on level 1 - there are 20 in total to beat. However once you get into the swing of it, it soon becomes apparent just how much fun Eliss will provide. Later levels add more planet colours and different sized squeesars, meaning you'll not only have to build planets up but also split them apart for the smaller squeesars too. As the screen starts to fill, panic sets in and you can guess the rest.

Eliss is brilliant fun and fits perfectly with the iPhone/iPod Touch controls - I would maybe even go as far as to say that it's one of the best uses of the hardware that I've seen. It's a nifty little thing and at $3.99 we highly recommend that you give it a try. Just beware of addiction.

Available through the iTunes store.
Also check out the Finger Gaming review of Eliss and see if Danny agrees with me.
