Browser Game Pick: RotatSpin (Nevcalian)
Everything about RotatSpin makes me want to cry. The music, the precision-timed jumping, the mind-hurting angles.
Yet I couldn't stop playing it for a good, long while. The game is simple - press forward to run fast, backwards to slow down and space to jump. Get to the end of a level, go on to the next one. Hit any of the obstacles, however, and you'll explode into pieces. There's also some strange camera-twisting going on to hurt your mind a little.
I got to level 28 before I decided to call it a day, mainly because it is what I like to call 'impossible'. If anyone can beat it, please don't tell me. I may break.
Give it a spin (ho!) over at Armor Games.

Level 28 is probably the easiest level once you figure out what the hint means.

That's weird. You'd think that the rotating is actually the game's main shining features, but it turns out to be obsolete. At least I didn't mind the camera angles at all, as the game itself is so simple. The only feature I thought was interesting is the ability to pause at anytime, which actually only pauses your character, not the environment. That felt a little bit like Braid, but I felt that it was still unintuitive to use and it seemed cheap that you can't take any damage while you're paused.
A wholly uninteresting game in my opinion.

Quit at level 35 though. It's only a hard level because each jump you need to be going a very VERY *SPECIFIC* speed. No matter where you land you always die unless you're going the right speed.

also quit at 35. spent 104 lifes. really funny game

Quit at level 35 too. The jumps you need to pull off seem ridiculous, you need to time them perfectly.
Posted by: Mauro | April 24, 2009 7:30 PM
It's not that hard, once you realise that a lot of the levels depend on intentionally glitchy tricks. I finished it with something like 183 deaths which put me only 12th on the high score table.
I don't blame people who quit before the end... this game made me question my life priorities.

Beat the game in ten minutes.
Not too easy, not too hard, would have easily gotten less than 160 deaths if level 28 came first.

that was really a fun little game : )
it made me anxious

Quit at 35. Nintendo-hard.
Posted by: Jezebeau | April 24, 2009 9:03 PM
Also quit at lvl 35 here, had about 70 deaths (20 from trying 35). The pause feature is really cheap and feels like it makes all the timing in earlier stages now irrelevant.

another level 35 dropout here :)
Posted by: Anonymous | April 24, 2009 10:04 PM
Add me to the list of those that couldn't get past level 35.
Posted by: Nels Nelson | April 24, 2009 11:44 PM
Still racked up most deaths on 35, but since you can slow down and speed up mid-air it's pretty forgiving on where you land. I'm just no good at platformers :)
Beat it with 155 deaths.

Beat it with...256 deaths, haha. I think I enjoyed that game, but I'm not exactly sure.
Posted by: madamluna | April 25, 2009 1:03 AM
293 deaths at level 24. I have no how you guyz made it past this levels.
One thing I noticed - the angle of next level does not seem to be predetermined and it seems it is carried over from previous level. When I refreshed at level 24, the level angle was reset and it made it even harder for me to complete the level.

Couldn't get past level 28. I do realize what the hint means, but even if I pause right at the start of the barrier and unpause at the moment it starts going up and going at full speed I still get caught before the end. Makes me think it depends on the PC's speed.
Posted by: Anonymous | April 25, 2009 1:54 AM
You guys do know that you can pause in the MIDDLE of the barrier, right? If you pause it and the thing goes down, it doesn't kill you. A lot of the stages are actually really easy if you use the pause function that way.

evil game
but i beat it
Posted by: anon | April 25, 2009 3:07 AM
Won with 285 deaths lawl I suck. 35 is a bitch, you need to master mid-air speed adjustment.
Posted by: Prio | April 25, 2009 4:40 AM
...aaand I just won it with 30 deaths, after somehow managing a perfect no-death level 35.
Going to go do something else with my life now.
Like, I dunno.
Play another obscure game into the ground maybe.

Very kool ('k' because if I didn't, you should ask why not). I didn't actually start to rack up deaths until the level that was zipper teeth. The whole charade was just seeing how well you can clip through whatshouldbe solid objects. O What skill that requires.
Finished in 198th place, was sad that I could only spell up to 'Mag' in 'Magnificent'... Felt pretty good about finishing it until I had to KEEEEEP clicking the pages just to find my forsaken name.
Also, the music was awesome; I feel empty now that it isn't drumming away on the congo-bongo of existence in my eardrum.
Posted by: Anonymous | April 25, 2009 6:00 AM
Finished :)
162 deaths first try
32 deaths second try
Level 35 is undeniably very hard. The pause "feature" makes a lot of levels very easy once you know about it.

I gone to lvl 37, but then the level bugged... i just could not move or see my guy anymore...
By the way, i never spent more than 40 life on a single level, this game is quite easy

Same here. Gutted. I had 114 deaths at this point too. How many levels are there in total?
Posted by: coxy | April 25, 2009 9:41 AM
I remember there being forty-something levels total.
Incidentally, when you change your guy's speed, he keeps moving at that speed without any further input until you adjust it again, just for those who didn't know.
Posted by: Prio | April 25, 2009 10:06 AM
35. Became uninteresting because of hardness.
Posted by: drugon | April 25, 2009 11:39 AM
I finished it, there are 47 levels.
Posted by: MrPocolo | April 25, 2009 12:47 PM
hehe I suck at these games but got to level 24 with 88 deaths, before I knew I had to end it before I lost my sanity, lots of fun though :D
Posted by: Anonymous | April 25, 2009 2:57 PM
I remember there being 50 levels?
Anyway, I died just over 100 times.
Posted by: Vanguard | April 25, 2009 11:32 PM
"also quit at 35"
ditto
Posted by: SD | April 26, 2009 4:25 AM

Un jeux super sympa! Très simple mais bien fait, très prenant! Rappelle les premier jeu dans le gameplay.
Posted by: cristof | April 27, 2009 12:47 PM
quit at lvl 35 ):
Posted by: Anonymous | April 27, 2009 10:05 PM
I beat it and it is a fun game. If you have the concentration to do it. I found it kindof easy.
Posted by: Pfhantom | April 28, 2009 3:09 AM
ok, its a fun easy game, the pause feature is cheap :-p.
however... i lost all respec for this god forsaken game at level 35, 4 painful hours later and i still diddnt beat it.
If there was a choice between this game and perishing in a firery appocolypse, i'd pick judgement day every time.
Posted by: aleks | April 30, 2009 7:00 AM
haha.. completedthe game. 48 levels. i killed the crab (which was surprisingly easy).. and how many deaths..
[409] .. lol - if i did it again i recon i could half that. IF i did it again ;)
