spidr is an action game not unlike messhof's You Found the Grappling Hook or String Theory, measuring only a measly 96 kilobytes in size. The objective is to grab all gems in each level before time runs out, using only a string of web to launch yourself from one place to another.

Any remaining seconds unused from the previous stage will be transferred over to the next one, with some extra bonus time added to the clock for acquiring all gems. The game supports mouse, touchpad and analog joypad controls. A linux build is included in the same zip package as well. (screenshots)

Very nice :)

works great on a controler,. simple and elegant, gameplay, and art. excellent stuff.

I got a virus warning :O

I ran the zip file through the following online scanners and AVG, and only avast! is detecting the Win32:Trojan-gen for spider.exe. Possibly a false alarm, but you could avoid downloading the game to be on the safe side.

If you're having problems with virus warnings and think it might be a false alarm, but you're not sure, get Sandboxie and run the game in a sandbox. It's a great piece of software for things like this.

Oh, and Spidr is lovely. Very retro, very polished and very playable.

Most virus scanners flag small exes, regardless of their contents.

I've recorded a gameplay video of Spidr: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI5rdr3eCU8

Also, AVG Free doesn't detect anything.

yes, some virus scaners are badly made, and call any compressed exe file a virus. This is pure lazyness on the scanner makers part,. I found no problem when running this game, and doubt there is room for a viruse in with the game.

@jph: is there any place where we can get your lunar rescue remake?
