Similar to Joakim's The Legend of Princess, Ivory Springs is an incomplete project that is short on length but packs enough content to entertain for about half an hour or so. The game is an enjoyable exploration platformer which features great background art and sprite designs, a catchy soundtrack, directional shooting, Mega Man-type slides, and memorable boss fights.

There is a special guest appearance included as a surprise, but if you haven't been following konjak's work for a while now you'd probably wouldn't even notice her cameo.

In case fullscreen mode doesn't work properly and 2x resolution isn't centered on your screen, try this method:

- switch to 2x
- right-click on your Windows desktop
- select display properties
- choose another desktop resolution (maybe 800 x 600)
- switch back to your original resolution

The game window should now be centered with 2x resolution mode enabled. Press Alt and F4 to quit at any time.

I can't help but love the graphics of all of Konjak's games and make me remember that true pixelart is still alive. Go Konjak!

That makes two games he abandoned with Mina in it. =(

The awesomeness of the co-op boss fight almost makes up for it. Almost.

I only played a little bit so far, but I love his style! The music is excellent as well.

I knew you'd eventually be first to announce it, Tim!

And thanks, everyone!

@ konjak actually, the daily click posted this yesterday. aside from that your games, incomplete or not, always move me to tears, great job!

:D
A fine 20th Birthday this was!

Yeah the co-op boss rocked - a shame this won't be completed

very nice.
again, very smooth controls and damn fine pixel art!

have only checked it briefly due to some problems with the screen:

when i choose fullscreen i get some tearing effects in the.

when i choose 2x resolution the screen is poistioned in the lower right of the screen...therefore only 3/4 is visible.

any ideas how to move the window in a proper area?

This isn't a finished game in any way and it was over two years ago I worked on it, I can't really go back to it easily to fix those issues...

allright, no problem.
then im gonna play it in the small window ;)

this works! now the screen is centered in 2x size. much more pleasing to the eyes that way! fine.

thanks tim, your always a great help! :)

Seriously Konjak, this would be a must-buy on my list if it had been finished, but I understand why you can't finish it now. Love this game to death though. The laughing soldiers in the bar was one of my favourite parts. Just brilliant.
Keep up the great work!

I agree its a shame this wasnt completed but I wont complain as I enjoyed this very much, very innovative too. Thanks very much for putting it out.

First of all excuse my bad english.

On my first playthrough two neat bugs occurred.

When I got the ivory light in the church I suddenly had all of the weapons in my inventory. I can't remember all of them off the top of my head, but some of them were: Missiles (you had 10), a projectile that you guided with the arrow keys, a flamethrower, a magnet gun, a sword, projectiles that were as slow as your normal running speed, and a bunch of others. I didn't try any of them out on any enemies except for the end boss.

The second bug was me jumping on top of a building in the city before you get captured. I was able to jump on top of the church and it looked like some item was on the very top, but I fell down.

I have not been able to replicate any of these bugs on later playthroughs.

Another great game! Wow, I would play this thing to death if it was completed. I havent played a newly released game that has impressed me this much since... Legend of Princess! Why must you make such awesome games?! Id love to see this game redone, or just finish a game soon because I have full confidence that any project your working on now is probably even better!

wait, this game going to be finished?! noooooooooooooo!

Really nice graphics.. sent to the trash bin because of so many bugs.
In a couple of minutes I got sound disappearing, and the wrench not working (making the whole thing impossible) after loading game. So those doors you have to wrench up but they don't stick ('red to green'), bug or normal? I won't waste my time trying to know..

Too buggy. can see why it was abandoned.

Another great game. Had real fun playing it, shame it won't be finished. Was set in a really inspiring world. Not sure what people are saying when they found it unplayable due to bugs. I hardly encountered any.

Actually I agree with one of the posters - I would prefer to purchase a game along this style rather than Noitu Love 2.

I didnt encounter any bugs while playing, except for the occasional bad guy spazing out back and forth for a second or so. The story line is so interesting, i want to know more about the story aahhhh but I never will :( . Ive played through it twice so far. I guess I should beat it on hard mode now. Konjak, you came up with alot of cool ways to use the wrench mechanic! again, nice work with the game.

For an Alpha, this game is pretty solid. There were a few bugs, but it didn't cause much disruption to the overall experience.

If this game was completed, I would buy it up in a heartbeat.

i completed it, but can't figure out how to make the program quit. i'm at the menu, but there's no key that i can press to make the program shut down :(

You should pick it up again sometime, seriously. This was awesome and I would definitely pay for it.

@Konjak: Where/how did you learn to draw like this? Is it possible to write a tutorial or such for fellow indies who're graphically challenged, so we can make better graphics for our games?

Thanks everyone, again!

You quit with Alt+F4, sorry.
And writing tutorials is something I'm not very keen on, I am not a good explainer.

Sorry some of you experienced bugs.

really good, i didnt see any bugs. maybe youll pick it back up after seeing all the positive feedback, eh?

This game feels like Cave Story and Noitu Love 2 fused together. I had a lot of fun playing this. And i found no game-breaking glitchs; just some enemies trapped inside walls. I certainly hope this game gets completed someday. =/

great bosses , as usual

To be honest, I liked this game better than Nouti Love 2, make this make complete and I'll pay you 5 bucks ok?

More Konjak-style awesomeness. I must admit the control bothered me somewhat, but not enough to make me stop playing.

R.I.P. Mina and Robin. We hardly knew ye. T-T

$5?
id pay at least 20 for a game with replay value

$5?! Shyeah, tell a guy to spend the rest of his year to crunch graphics and design 2/3 the remainder of a game, plus bug testing, and in exchange you'll kinda feel like paying for his next Big Mac and fries. Everyone wins right?

Still though, this game would be awesome if it was finished. Imagine all the fun things still left to be wrench'd!

C'mon Konjak, how hard would it be to port this thing and use it as a guinea pig for your future projects on Construct?!

If I were to remake it I'd reboot and remake everything.

You should definitely finish this game! I loved it, in fact out of all your games this one is the one that I most enjoyed playing ( although I did like Noitu Love 2 and Chalk a lot too ).

Don't know if you ran out of ideas or if you though the game wasn't going to be good enough but the beginning is awesome in any case.

Yeah loved this man. I would really really like to see a finished version of this. :) I definitely prefer slower more atmospheric games like this to pure action games.

I guess the difficulty in this is trying to avoid making the thing too much like cave story though :/.

It was short, but I enjoyed it for what it was. You always make the best bosses.

It didn't really feel that much like Cave Story though. The controls were a bit less floaty, and I think that there was enough "flavor" to differentiate the two (if that makes sense). The only glitch I noticed was the aforementioned enemies spawning inside walls.

I really wish there was more to this game... It was so awesome! The story got really interesting!

If this was finished, I'd buy it.

Yeah, loved it. Would totally pay for this one if it was completed.

FINISH IT.

Seriously, do it. I want to know more of the plot.

With all the positive feedback, konjak HAS to remake it...right?

Right? :D

I can't get past the second boss. After destroying its arms, how can I damage it?

Anyway. Konjak. FINISH IT. This is a sure buy if you do.

I love your games, Konjak.

You have a real creative talent that shows with your games- not just in the art and music, but how the game plays- and it is ever so present in your boss fights. I wish you luck in the future as I continue to dig deeper into your past games.

Ivory Springs has a lot of potential, and I hope you return to it one day.
