Retro Avatars is a nifty little application that generates a blocky avatar image to use, based on the input of a nine-letter name consisting of spaces, alphabets and numbers. This Allegro program saves generated images as bitmap files, which can then be resized, recoloured, or edited using any external graphics editing program.

Ack! Crashes if you accidentally enter a name with nothing

Haven't tried it yet but it looks fantastic! :)) Beautiful minimalistic pixel-art.

Some of these are pretty cool. Nice algorithm. :)

This is a fantastic little app. I'll finally be able to have a unique identifiable avatar without having to think about it too much!

It's addictive...

This is pretty nifty. Makes me want to generate a bunch and make a game with 'em.

Fun app! I'm surprised how cool they look. Just like Tom, makes me want to use them in a game :P
