Paradox Interactive have released the above video today of the upcoming Mount & Blade expansion 'Warband'. Followers of the game will know that the main feature of this expansion is the addition of multiplayer.

According to the press release the game will support "up to 32 players" but will be able to handle up to 64 where Mods are concerned. There's also a number of other great sounding additions, including a complete overhaul of the graphics, improved AI which will have a greater sense of morale and big improvements to the combat system.

There's no word yet on the release date yet, but sometime this summer wouldn't be a bad guess. The original is available from a variety of distributors, but if you're planning on purchasing it, best to get it from the official site - it's a lot cheaper.

Awesome! Been a fan of Mount& Blade since betas and am waiting anxiously for the new expansion!

I will pay whatever they want for a multiplayer version of this game. My first-born, a lung, someone else's lung, whatever. I really do hope no one is standing in-between myself and their store. It would be a pity to have killed someone to get this game. But worth it. 15 years hard jail time, bah. Multiplayer M&B? Forever!

I just tried out the original due to the intrigue of this video, and I have to say how awesome it is. I love it. This expansion looks great!

I am a huge M&B fan, been playing since 0.515. My main concern is that the depth of the single player game won't be translated into the multiplayer mode. the details have been scarce, but I'm really afraid that multiplayer will be nothing but skirmishes. Perhaps I ask too much, lol.

CAN'T WAIT

I usually just jump into quick battles so I'm extremely happy that this expansion is coming out

multiplayer empire building would have been great but it doesn't diminish my excitement at all

The battles are really the heart and soul of M&B, why would you need more than that?

I need more than that because I enjoy more than just riding around on a horse stabbing things. My favorite aspect of M&B is that all my in-battle actions have overall consequences in the game world. Don't get me wrong, I think combat is definitely the meat of the game, but without the dynamic universe that the game takes place in, the combat can get old pretty fast (ie. older versions).

Are horses unkillable in this game?

They go down after a bit. War horses are a bit tougher though. Glad to see a multiplayer element to this game. Been hoping they'd bring one out for a while now.
