A preview trailer for Daedalic Entertainment's upcoming 2D adventure game, The Whispered World. The game is scheduled for a release later this year (Germany first, then in English for the rest of the world at a later date). A Nintendo DS version is also in development. (FAQ)

I didn't understand most of that, but it looks great!

Looks, WAY too Saturday morning cartoon for my tastes.

And I hate adventure games where the protagonist moves SO SLOOOOOW.

I agree that the style looks oddly familiar to such cartoons, and I'm not sure if I'd like that. But, you surely can't say that they aren't ambitious about making a big 2D game: A recent preview said that the Daedalic contracted three external companies with work on the game. A team in Amsterdam works only on backgrounds, while a team on the philippines works on 15 minutes of full-screen cartoon sequences.

I actually own "Edna bricht aus" ("Edna & Harvey: The Breakout" in English), and while I didn't like the game so much, very unlike most germans who have played it, the writing is very great. So, I'm kinda looking forward to The Whispered World :)

In other news, Daedalic Entertainment will actually publish Aminata Design's Machinarium, at least in and around Germany :)

I'm not a fan of the Saturday morning cartoon-esque sequences, but the actual gameplay style looks beautiful. For some reason I can't stand the look of the protagonist though. Well, I can't wait to try it out anyways; hopefully it comes out in English soon enough.

I think it looks awesome. Just hoping it gets a PROPER translation to English.

My feeling is: German DISNEY makes an adventure game ;)

And if the plot will be able to attract not only little or teenage ones -- count me in.

I doubt that they are making the game for kids, even though the cartoon sequences might make it look like that. The lead designer is as much an avid fan of the lucas arts classics as all others in the communities, so I think The Whispered World is also going to be for those :)

Okay, that would be a nice cartoon if only they didn't put those boring, irrelevant, "make it the stupidest way cause otherwise the game will end too soon" puzzles in it.

Yeah, I know I'm speaking about the game that isn't even out, but mark my words.

Also, the old trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiVNUkZNeK4 . Check Sadwick's design, he has a tail!

The animation could use some work, but those backgrounds are gorgeous.
