Though the hero in Skipmore's Mamono Slayer may wield a sword, the game is essentially a collection of lock and key puzzles designed to prevent the player from finding the legendary blade that will save the kingdom. The act of attacking enemies involve pointing your weapon at them as they walk towards the knight, and you can access your inventory by pressing the space key at any time. The castle also acts as a place of healing, since returning to it will restore any hearts lost while you are exploring the deeper dungeons.

Mamono Slayer is a short game that shouldn't take longer than ten or fifteen minutes to play from start to end.

Frustrating movement response to say the least. Would have been much more fun if you could move faster or at least smoother.

Unable to get the golden key because of the frustrating movement (no moving while falling). Playing skipped. :(

You don't need to move while falling to get the golden key. Something I originally had trouble with until I noticed something. (trying not to spoil it)

Nero: there is an invisible ladder from the rom full of blue blobs

Awesome game. Ending was hilariously adorable.

The ladder's not even invisible (unless, I guess, if you have the brightness on your monitor way down).

I have no idea what to do with the poison.

Find the graveyard and go all Romeo on that poison. It'll be an uplifting experience.

What does one do after descending down to that large patterned door?

Ah, I'd already tried that, but apparently I needed to stand at the spot without a headstone before it would work.

Grr. I died right after using the second coin/plate. Too annoying to start over. Done! Cool game though otherwise. I'd have liked to have finished if it weren't for the annoyance factor.

how do i get the second stone?

Cool little game that requires a little bit of thought and observation to beat. I enjoyed it. Also, the movement is weird, but if you tap the keys you'll move faster/more smoothly.

Stuck at the big/patterned door.

pretty decent game, laggy controls, nice music and idea but the execution isn't that great... I think i would have enjoyed it more if the platforming was more typical.

I really wish Skipmore's stuff was in English.

Neat little game anyway. I've been playing Half-minute Hero a lot, so I'm hooked even more on the old RPG spoofs.

If I find the rest of the stuff they've done to be as unenjoyable as this I might have to skipmore of their games.

Skipmore's games are always pretty good, but they always control really badly. I don't know if the unresponsive controls are on purpose but it makes them really vexing to play. I beat this, and I'm glad I did, but whatever he's using to accept keyboard input needs some real serious work before he makes another game.

Love the MSX-esque music!

I enjoyed playing this. Thanks for posting :)

how do you even select the items when you press spacebar ?

Loved it. Very nice classic MSX feel.

hey! This is nice one! Lovin' it.
---off---
How can I make some tunes like NES's. Something better than 'Nerd Tracker'?

This game rocks. It's worth it for the music alone, but the zeldaesque gameplay is great too. Just stick with the controls and don't be afraid to go heal when you need it and you should be fine.

Anonymous: You enter the inventory by pressing space, move to an item using the left and right arrow keys and press space again to use the item. Each item (I think?) can only be used in a specific place.

Enjoyed a LOT! =)

I quit just one time... the second one I beat it.

I can't get to use the green _|_ thingie in my inventory where i think i'm supposed to use it (at the wall with the same symbol above the room full of blue blobs). I'm going to the inventory, selecting it and hitting space but nothing happens...
