Angry Gorilla Machine Monsters may be a simple shmup where gameplay is concerned, but the work Andrew has put into the presentation makes it well worth a go. His signature blurring effect is there in full force, complimented by some brilliant design choices. After my fifth go, I was still coming up against enemies I hadn't seen before - the baddie deployment is random.

Short but sweet, give it a shot.

Oh look. Another eye-candy shooter.

I wish Brophy's games wouldn't force 640x480 resolution by default. Every time I get forced to that, the layout of the icons on my desktop seems to completely obliterate itself.

tried on Ubuntu Linux 9.04 i386, on Wine - it flashes upside down, as fluid as 2fps, extremelly hard and boring to be played - a native Linux version of this game is very welcome...

The screen was all messed up, fiddled with the effects and tried the compatibility modes but nothing worked.

Gee, do people only post comments to complain these days? I thought the game was pretty cool, simple but fun.

Really nice and colorful game. Music is by my favorite John Marwin who has helped Cactus in many games.

The game is indeed too hard though. I think the collision area for the bullets the ship should be reduced. Also maybe teh bullet fire could be a little less regular so that there could be a time window for the ship to sneak past them.

All the enemies have a shooting pattern that can easily be avoided, one you figure it out. For example, the first enemies can't reach the opposite side of the screen, so all you have to do is wait for them to leave if they catch you off guard.

Seeing as all the enemies eventually leave the room after some time, and the bullets can be destroyed by your rockets, I figured it'd be too easy if I dulled down the enemies. :/

Man, the graphics kind of bug in my computer.

Either way, visually and musically interesting, but the gameplay is lacking. There are no powerups or anything that adds variety to the gameplay. All baddies are pretty much the same with easy to memorize patterns. After a little while it's just like a big loop. It's not something that can be played for more than 5 or 10 minutes since even the music and the visuals get boring after a while.

tl;dr really awesome presentation but lacking in content.
