The first bit of the video may make you think it's an adventure game, but it actually appears to be more of a platformer. Either way, it looks nice.

whahooa scary ... some of visual effects looks fantastic!

Just because it's sidescrolling doesn't mean it's a platformer; there wasn't actually any platforming to be seen at all in that trailer. This looks like more of a beat-em-up type affair.

Wow pre-rendered...it's like I've fallen into the mid 90s - It doesn't look particularly fun at this early stage though.

Anyone else reminded of Sanitarium?

I am now confused. I cannot imagine any logical storyline that makes sense with the enemies/gameplay..

Prerendered is cool, specifically the main character.

Hi,
Thanks for taking a look at the video. I'm honoured it has popped up on indiegames.com !

FizzyBlood's right, it's not really a platformer. It's a mix of adventure and action.

Yes, pre-rendered, because I still live in the 90's and I'm trying desperately to pull everyone back with me. :)

The story is quite involved, I started writing it a few years before starting the game dev. But I promise it will make sense once you see future vids, demo, what have you.

KaL - I feel bad I haven't heard of Sanitarium, as you're the second person I've seen who's brought it up.

Thanks again, I really appreciate any feedback!

Woops, sorry, was looking at wrong post names.

KaL, yes I'm old

Pseudokai, I'm looking into Sanitarium.

That sounds like a challenge to me!

Art looks great, not too sure what the game play will be like tho.

Well, the art looks pretty well-done and the aesthetic feeling of the game very unique. I was going to say that the gameplay seems a bit repetitive (in terms of what you have to do) but then I remembered games (specially beat'em-ups, like those sega or nintendo classics from the late 80's and 90's) where everything was repetitive yet the game was fun. I wonder how the story adds to the game.

Great style and atmosphere.

I'm sorry. Is she hitting people with her straitjacket sleeves?

Nice.

Did you do the music on the trailer? It's reallllly good. Would be very interested in hearing more.

Love the arms.

@dsaos - Yes, heavily starched straitjacket sleeves. :)

@jabronie - The two tracks used in the trailer were composed by Andrew Tuppen; who was contracted to do few of the tunes in Lylian (and did an awesome job). Whereas I stuck to the ambient and sound effects... which, aren't even in the trailer. :(

Anyone else reminded of Sanitarium?

Me.
