Game Giveaway of the Day is offering Archibald's Adventures as a free download for the next twenty hours or so. This puzzle platformer by Rake in Grass (of Jets'n'Guns fame) is probably the closest thing we have to a new Professor Fizzwizzle game. An 8MB download, 80% rating, and boasting over 160 levels to play, I cannot recommend this game enough so go get it before the giveaway expires.

There is no uninstaller since it basically unzips all game files into a folder, so if you want to remove the game just delete the entire folder instead. You need to install Archibald's Adventures today to activate the full version on your computer.

Looks nice... but I don't really trust these Giveawayoftheday guys... nobody gives anything for free, are they giving games away to spy on us? To install crapware?

man, i'm so sad i couldn't install it under wine!
tricky installer throws exception inside mfc42.dll.

What a great game, just get it before the time runs out!

Great game. It was as one of the free games in game magazine, here in Czech Republic, since the game is made by Czech developers.

Quite tricky sometimes and will give few headaches, but overall well crafted.

The installer does have a few checkboxes that you can not click. In general it seems harmless enough.

Played through a bunch of levels there. Yeah: it's pretty solid for sure.

I managed to install it under wine, but it doesn't run.

It complains about being unable to initialize the BASS sound system.

And yeah, the installer gave me a lot of spyware-like bad vibes.

Great! I got it working with wine!

Just set the audio driver to OSS in winecfg. That did the trick for me.

Hey! It's me again! (the anonymous Linux user).

It does work with ALSA, too! The problem was other app (Firefox of all things) was blocking the use of the sound card.

I didn't realize that because apparently the sound card remains "busy" for a few seconds after closing Firefox.

Awesome little game! Love the colourful, detailed cartoony graphics and the intuitive, simple controls.

It looks like it belongs to the "easy to learn, difficult to master" school, and I like that!

Neat game. The level design and graphics are good but it's all a bit too slow-paced for my tastes (so far, anyway).

Really enjoying this. Didn't expect much at first, but as I've got further it's getting pretty interesting.

Glad you linked to this, would have completely passed me by otherwise.

Actually, those giveawayofthedays really do give free stuff away. They don't install anything you don't want to and even if you do, the only they do install on your computer is add to your favorite their website. Don't worry, I test their wrappers before to make sure they don't do anything to spy on you or anything. Giveawayoftheday is one of those rare places where you get sometimes good stuff for free but you have to be persistence and check everyday because a lot of time, they give crappy software but once in a while they give really excellent software or games.

I've just subscribed to their newsletter. They only have games I'm interested in about 2-4 times a year, but at least those I don't want to miss :)

By the way, the last two times I've installed a GGotD, it also installed the "Software Informer" program. I may have missed a checkbox, so maybe it's actually optional, but otherwise it didn't seem harmful and could be uninstalled quickly, anyway.
