Dreamside Maroon is an exploration game that puts you in control of the scarf-wearing Aster who is on a journey to reach the moon. He does this by guiding the growing tendril of a vine with his lantern, occasionally lighting up lanterns to attract fireflies and eventually collecting them for a temporary increase in speed. Touching islands could also cause them to expand further, although only some platforms will respond to your interaction this way.

You can access a configuration menu by pressing the escape key. Be prepared to set aside an hour or two if you decide to play, since the game doesn't come with an option to resume your progress should you quit halfway through. Download it here. (Windows, 62.2MB)

Wow, this has to be one of the best looking 3D games to come from Digipen, at least out of the ones I've played.
Great stuff.

Great game. however, since there is no way to resume (it's very short so why would you) but i wish i could skip the opening. Also I found no way to exit the game besides CTRL+ALT+DEL and shutting it down through the task manager. great game, bad execution in terms of usability.

MisterCurtis,
If you bring up the game's pause menu with the ESC key (or start button, if you're using an Xbox controller), you can scroll down to the "Quit" option to leave the game without the need forcibly shutdown the game.

Absolutely love this game!!! Good job guys!

I expect nothing less of cactus to already have his entry in; it definitely looks interesting.

Oops, that was supposed to be for the GAMMA IV post.

Nice looking game! I really want to try this one out.

Ian Eller,

I would have obviously attempted all typical means of closing out the program. no other keys besides gameplay controls work. All standard approaches: [esc], xbox controller [start], also Alt+F4 yielded no results on multiple sessions.

I still love the game though. I Would like to see this implemented as a longer game.

MisterCurtis,
You have stumbled upon a bug. Thanks for letting us know!
What sort of machine are you running on?

Get to the moon, right? So why even mess with platforms if I can just swing wine to the moon. After then credits appears. What? I've completed this faster than downloading?
