[Note: Since we linked to the game, it's been completely hammered by traffic. The guys have put a player limit on the server to keep the numbers down, so it's a little difficult to get into the game at the moment! I've removed the link to the game from this post, but you can still visit the TIG forum page and check out the details]

Been watching this one progress via the TIGSource forums and it's now definitely at the point where it's worth mentioning. Realm of the Mad God, created for the TIG Assemblee competition, is 'a massively co-op fantasy adventure' featuring a remarkably large world to roam and explore (inhabited by thousands of monsters), real-time battling, a full leveling up system, lots of different equipment and magic spells to experiment with and 5 different classes to choose from.

All this content, and it's still being built. Starting a game is as simple and entering your name and pressing go, at which point you'll be dumped into the world alongside every other connected player. You can choose to team up (text chat is available) or go it alone.

A major thing to note - death is permanent. Lose all your health and you'll have to start all over again, whether you were level 1 or level 100. In fact, in this respect it reminds me a lot of Farb's Captain Forever - you may be able to get to a respectable level, but make little slip and it's all gone.

Go give it a try, and make sure to follow the progress over on the TIG forums.

I love this game. : )

Been following it closely since the first post. I play as Scarvye the Pirate-turned-Priest for those looking to group. ; )

Damn, server limit reached. . .

Yeah, the server limit was reached when I tried to give it a shot as well. Which is a shame, as this looks pretty neat.

The control scheme is kind of awkward. The camera is very close to the action so it's hard to see where enemies will come from. I found myself getting stuck on trees and rocks during fights and then quickly die.

I like the graphics and idea, but I didn't find it very fun for the few minutes I played before I died and couldn't reconnect.

Other than being incredibly hard to switch between using forward and back with strafing vs turning, it's pretty cool. Really intense when you're near death, theres not even any real grinding because you're almost always on the attack, or being attacked! It's pretty shallow overall, so I don't think I'll be returning, but it was fun to play for a few minutes and talk to people.

There are few things that annoys the hell out of me. And one of them is too short names. Seriously, 7 letters? Why? Why, not make it to at least 16 characters? This is ridiculous.

This game is great, and it's still being updated, so I would give it a second chance.
And if the controls annoy you, hitting 0 will make them become the more normal type.

I just spent over an hour playing as Cali, and this is definitely worth checking out at least once. There's really not that much to see/do/collect so it gets old somewhat quickly, but the co-op aspect keeps things more entertaining than they have a right to be, as co-op always does.

I hope, and I am sure, that things will only get better as it's updated, but it's definitely not something I'll be returning to every day for now. Fun, but too shallow and easy in its current build.

liked this a lot : )

Hit level cap as a priest fighting on own with second best wand, two speed rings, attack ring, improved heal spell (never found death wand ;_;).

When the boss finally appeared none of us could find it and some random guys who'd just turned up killed it. Then it crashed. Oh well~

I was playing and the server crashed just before I hit 10. I was kinda bummed, I don't know if I'll try it again. I'd like to see a better trade system implemented as well as a way of seeing who the green dots are. That way when I trip over three gold swords as a wizard it'd be much easier to give them to those who need it.

Hi folks! We've recently upgraded to a new, faster server, which can support more users. If you were unable to get in before, please try again at

Thanks for playing!

Just thought I'd add to this post that the guys behind the game opened up a site focusing on the game. If you're still interested or want to give feedback to the devs, check it out at:
