The development team Playdead has announced that their first game Limbo will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade service, according to an article posted on IGN.com. Playdead CEO Dino Patti also confirmed that the IGF-nominated puzzle platformer will be launched this summer, so mark your calendars for this one.

Limbo is currently competing for the Technical Excellence and Visual Art awards in this year's IGF, and if you're attending GDC next week you'll be able to play the game at the IGF showfloor as well.

I had a chance to playtest this game a few months ago and I can say it is well worth the hype. The atmosphere is incredible and the silhouette artstyle enhances it and doesnt feel gimmicky. I'd be upset if it didnt win at least one of its nominated categories at IGF this year.

Looks great.

Nice! I had wondered what'd happened to this game.

Looks awesome. If those screenshots are in-game I'll shit my pants :)

I presume it's still coming out on PC right!? :o

I also playtested it and while the engine and graphics are excellent, the level design could really be improved a lot, and lets the game down badly.

if this is not coming out on PC too, I'll be very very angry!

I am buying this.

If this isn't coming on PC, they will be making a HUGE mistake. Honestly, how many people buy Indie Games on XBL? I'd say less than a thousand. Who knows about Limbo? I'd say less than 200. By selling it on PC, they will make more of a profit plus get more people to know about it. Then they'll be able to sell it on XBL.

I'm sure they will sell it on PC, but still... if they don't... BIG, BIG mistake.

XBLA, not XBLIG. a "terrible" XBLA game will sell at least 10,000.

Stupid XBLA! If they weren't around all this stuff would be released on Steamworks for the goddamn PC!
And I highly doubt that there are people who only buy 360s for the XBLA. If they were that casual they would have bought a Wii (and play flash-games on it) instead, right? So if we don't consider Live Arcade as a killer feature to the 360 why not release it to the PC and distribute through the GfWL platform?

@DAud
XBLA is not only for casual games, there are actually a lot of gems in the service, think twice before opening your yapper the next time.

Denial is a bitch, this is the reality now a days, but after seeing that most of the people that got World of Goo paid 0.01 cent, I'm very happy that XBLA is around for these devs. Real gamers don't care about the platform, they just follow the games.

I definitely have to get my hands on this game.

@Yakatori

In regard to World of Goo the flexible price model achieved impressive results regardless http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/10/20/world-of-goo-sale-provides-fascinating-results/
