According to The Guardian, Zombie Cow's edutainment platformer Privates will be released on August 5th. You are right to be very surprised - that's just over a week away!

For anyone who has let Privates pass them by, it's a run-and-gun platformer based in the human body, in which small soldiers shoot STDs, sperm and other bodily wotsits. The Guardian ran a feature today on the game, stating that the game will be released on August 5th. There's no news on whether this is the release date for both the PC and Xbox 360 release, but we can safely assume that the PC edition at least will be gracing our monitors rather soonish.

Give that Guardian article a read, by the way - it is loveliness.

[Note: The Guardian article originally stated July 31st, and has since changed the date to August 5th.]

I literally spat out my coffee when I saw this! totally gonna get this

I still think it should be, "I'm HIV!"

It says it's out August 5th now. :(

@Paul: Cheers for pointing that out! I'm actually kinda glad - I'm stupidly busy this weekend, so I wouldn't have been able to play it anyway! Yey!

Meh...

Ah, Anonymous! Where would the internet be without you?

Great!

A game of Alien Swarm inside of your mothers vagina.. yeah.. no.

@Anonymous, haters gonna hate.

In the past edutainment games have been pretty lame except for the glory that is Oregon Trail. I'm interested to see how this does. Unfortunately, I see this resorting to crude juvenile humor and ending up only being successful amongst the crude juvenile crowd.

...which given that's precisely the age group it's aimed at, that would be a total win, yeah?

Like I commented, the fact that they seem to believe that AIDs is a virus and not the aftermath of a virus attack shows that this isn't going to be educational at all.

Ahaaa ... hahaha. Oh dear oh dear oh deary me.

[Raison d'etre of this game.]
<--(Whoosh!)--
[Heads of most IGB posters.]

The point of the game is to make safe sex seem more of a good idea to kids, beyond that it's just frosting. If it succeeds at that, it wins. Simple.

Maybe that's the point: You could shoot an HIvirus, but you cannot shoot AIDS, because it's a disease and as such has no singular manifestation :D .

And how, pray tell, did you come to this conclusion?
