About The IGF

The CMP Game Group (producer of Game Developer magazine, Gamasutra.com, and the Game Developers Conference) established the Independent Games Festival in 1998 to encourage innovation in game development and to recognize the best independent game developers. We saw how the Sundance Film Festival benefited the independent film community, and we wanted to create a similar event for independent game developers.
The competition, now in its 10th year, will award a total of nearly $50,000 in prizes to deserving indie creators in Main Competition and Student Competition categories at the IGF Awards Ceremony, which will be held the evening of February 20th, 2008 at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, and is one of the highlights of the Game Developers Conference.
All Independent Games Festival finalists will also be playable in the IGF Pavilion on the GDC show floor from February 20th-22nd, 2008. [More information...]
About The IGS

Featuring lectures, postmortems and roundtables from some of the most notable independent game creators around, the inaugural Independent Games Summit took place at Game Developers Conference 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, on March 5th and 6th, 2007.
The Independent Games Summit seeks to highlight the brightest and the best of indie development, with discussions ranging from indie game distribution methods through game design topics, guerrilla marketing concepts, student indie game discussions, and much more.
The CMP Game Group (which curates the IGF and runs GDC) plans another Independent Games Summit to coincide with the next GDC, in February 2008. [More information...]
