16. Love

Love is a minimalistic platformer in the style of messhof's Punishment series, consisting of twenty playable levels.

"My aim to Love was to, in all reality, sit down and focus long enough to get something done. I set myself with a task, a pretty simple goal, and eventually found time and desire to see it through. I'm overall quite pleased with how it came out, as I tackled all the concepts I had set out to, and really put some girthy meat out on a platter, with at least an hour of gameplay, ample ending opportunities, and a few hidden treats. I've seen speedruns of it now, and I have to say, that makes me proud.

A lot of people have asked me about the name, its meaning, its origin, and in all honesty, that definition's truly up to you. The game's hard, it can be short or lengthy, and if you sit through and really try, the end's worth it. If you're impatient, sloppy, and overall uncaring, you won't get anything out of it, and even if you do, it really won't be worth it.

So, without getting too cliche, try Love. Sit down, put some faith in it, and try to see if you can feel the emotion for which the game is named." - Fred Wood

The Independent Games Festival will return in March 2011 at GDC in San Francisco - look for more information soon. [More information...]
